King Charles: "Nigeria has long shown: that people of different faiths can, do, and must live alongside one another, in peace, in harmony and in shared purpose.” Does he have no idea of the level of persecution of Christians in Nigeria? gbnews.com/royal/king-cha…

The Orthodox Bishops from many branches have made a statement opposing abortion up to birth in the UK. The Catholic Bishops have been outspoken too. The Church of England - those with a vote - are still mostly silent. A travesty.

@ceecuk Cultural sensitivities? Are you talking down? Holding to male only ordination etc is not a cultural sensitivity it’s adherence to scripture and tradition. We can flip the critique and say if CofE evangelicals wish to be truth orthodox they must let go of their compromise.

@LightBearer0001 @_Unknown_D_ The whole section is not about financial giving anyways. It’s talking about not being judgemental or condemning others. It uses the measure, pressed down shaken together imagery of near eastern merchants. The core message is be merciful that you also receive mercy. Luke 6:37-38.

@_Unknown_D_ "Give AND IT SHALL be given unto you" is a direct quote from Jesus Himself "He that watereth SHALL also be watered" Even Paul said it won't be wrong to EXPECT to receive of your material wealth, BECAUSE I have labored over you Again, I understand you but the truth is different

I don’t give money to the church with the conviction that my money will be multiplied. I give because I love God and I want to support the work of the church in furthering the gospel - that’s it.

The term "theological liberalism" is thrown around a lot. When push comes to shove though, it still boils down to Richard Niebuhr's summation of what theological liberalism truly is: "A God without wrath brought men without sin into a kingdom without judgment through the ministrations of a Christ without a cross" (Kingdom of God in America, 193). Liberal/progressive Christianity is more than that but it is no less than that, and it will always come down to it. Niebuhr's words 89 years ago are just as applicable in 1937 as they are today.

A word for the world Our world is full of suffering and self-interest. In 2 Kings 5 we see that the true hope of the world is the word of the Lord. 2 Kings 5:1-27 Listen to the full talk in our resource library: shb.org.uk/media

Seeking justice on your on terms isn’t faithfulness. It’s bitterness and rebellion disguised. There’s been much harm and suffering in this world, and much suffered by women. But the feminist movement in the church overcorrects into disorder.

@WATCH_ACT Using terms anyhow it’s demonstrably a cultural movement that you seek biblical justification for. Rebellion against Gods order isn’t justice. Have at it. But as for me and my family we will say God knows best, but your pride makes you think otherwise. We will all answer to God

Justice is not a cultural wind. Jesus gave his life for the good news of the kingdom of God that there is no first or last. Let’s honour that by treating women and men equally. And start tackling the huge harms that systems of male privilege in our world create and legitimise.

@WATCH_ACT Fantastic news! Great to see CofE still has many who hold to the faith delivered once and for all without bending to every cultural wind and idea! Praise God !

This is foolish talk. The whole church never affirmed Arianism, nor did it ever advocate extermination based on ethnicity. The irony? Youre the one promoting novel, heretical ideas and aligning with those distorters of truth.
Women and the Church@WATCH_ACT

No. All Souls Langham Place goes against the teaching of the Bible and Gospel on justice and no group lording it over others - by the sin of proof texting, which has been responsible for bad theology - from the time of Arius to the justification of obeying Hitler.

Jesus insists that his disciples are to deny themselves, take up their cross, and follow him. The question on every disciple’s lips: Is it worth it? Yes—the compensation is out of this world! st-helens.org.uk/resources/talk…

Protestants (speaking of the magisterial and confessional Reformers) once had a robust love for the Church. Another casualty of modern evangelicalism is that Protestant ecclesiology has been reduced to something largely individualistic rather than corporate.

Today's image is commonly called the Alexamenos Graffito. It is a late 2nd-century or early 3rd-century graffiti from Rome, discovered on the Palatine Hill in 1857. The drawing mocks Jesus by portraying him crucified with the head of a donkey, while a figure stands nearby in a gesture of worship. The Greek inscription reads, “Alexamenos worships [his] god.” The image reflects common ridicule of early Christians, who were sometimes accused of absurd or impious worship—even of atheism since they rejected the gods of Rome. A crucified deity was scandalous enough; pairing that figure with a donkey’s head heaped mockery upon mockery. It is hard for us as moderns to wrap our minds around how shameful the cross was in the Roman Empire. In the first century, the cross was a reprehensible, horrific Roman instrument used to control the masses, instill fear, and eliminate political threats. Crucifixions were public warnings: mess with Rome, and this is what you get. Respectable society avoided even mentioning words like "cross" or "crucifixion." The cross was not a topic for polite conversation, much less something to proclaim from the rooftops as good news. Yet Paul insists that Christ crucified is precisely what Christians preach. Why? Because God reveals his wisdom in ways that overturn human expectations. The weak shame the strong; the despised nullify what appears powerful (1 Cor. 1:27–28). God reveals himself beneath his seeming opposite: life in death, glory in shame, hope in despair. “Alexamenos worships his god.” Indeed, he does. And we do with him. Call me Alexamenos. Call me a fool. The mocked and crucified one bore our sins, our blasphemies, the world’s corruption, and made them his own so that they are no longer ours. Look nowhere else for God but in the crucified and resurrected Jesus. In him alone we find wisdom, righteousness, sanctification, and redemption (1 Cor. 1:30). Now that is a God worthy of worship. ______ -We read 1 Corinthians 1 today in Bible in One Year: 1517.org/oneyear -The image is public domain. See the Wikipedia article "Alexamenos graffito" for more.

@Afro_Anglo @ArchbishopSarah God the Power of Creation is existentially Male and Female. Hence the Trinity is God the Father, God the Mother and God the Child! Equal roles within the Holy Family validate the Female Priesthood. But ‘The Essential Priesthood’ belongs to all who represent Jesus in everyday life

Last week I had a wonderful conversation with the Africa 6 – six female bishops serving in different parts of the Anglican Communion across Africa. Encouraged by how they support one another and nurture vocations among women in their churches. Their leadership is an inspiration – please pray for them.

@JimLittle1 What I mean is that parallel structures, AMiE and the likes, may not be the best path. Rather strengthen existing parishes and networks within CofE in a long term game to turn the ship around. But yh GAFCON has its issues too..

@Afro_Anglo Because the Anglican church in England is crumbling, including its conservative groups, so they don't have much capacity to set up parallel structures, let alone any tangible resources to do so. Even Gafcon is a house of cards.
