It’s imperative that we revert to STANDARD, not Daylight time, for two reasons, one of which you may have never considered. You know the first: solar noon is closest to 12 o’clock all year. That means an equal number of hours before and after noon each day. This also means earlier sunrises which are significantly better for establishing a healthy circadian rhythm. The second reason is that nearly ONE THIRD of US counties are in the wrong timezone. A significant swath of the country isn’t only an artificial hour ahead because of daylight time… but TWO HOURS ahead of true solar time. Year-round daylight time, especially without recalibrating time zones, would establish this error permanently, affecting millions of Americans. We should be letting the Sun dictate the day the way God made it. Arbitrary, artificial tampering would be worse for us all. Fix the time zones and affix standard time.

It's crazy that people want DST to me. The sun rises so early and sets so late in AZ during the summer already. I'd rather it stay like it is here where we don't do DST. If we switched, it would be a disaster.

@cogsciclinton @AgainstWoke @KeiferStreet @jamesawhiite An hour shift in daylight. The latest sunset in the phoenix area all year, is 7:43 pm. w/ DST, that would shift that sunset to 8:43pm. Going to bed at 9 in Wyoming when the sun set at 8:52 and it was still light outside, was abysmal. No DST is 1 of the best parts of living in az

Arizona is on permanent Daylight time (but they “call it” Mountain Standard time) and our circadian rhythm is just fine. Don’t believe me - look up the time in California (pacific daylight time now) and AZ - they’re on the same time right now. Your arguments are invalid and untrue. I was born and raised in Arizona. Permanent daylight time is the way to go. Everyone supporting standard argues “but the kids will be in the dark in the morning in winter!” - yep. And it’s totally fine. We survived lol - it’s not a big deal - at all. Also, with standard time, the kids get out of school when it gets dark, so you just get to pick which dark you want - you’re not preventing anything. Late summer evenings with more daylight is great. And having more daylight in the winter evenings would be great too.

@jamesawhiite @ramzpaul Nobody cares about solar noon. We don’t need more daytime in the morning. We want it after work - at least those of us who actually work for a living. Symmetrical days mean exactly nothing. The increased daylight should be skewed to the evenings.

@jamesawhiite Btw, AZ doesn't do DST. It would be weird if every other state went to permanent DST and AZ ended up on Pacific time year round.

@Devon_Eriksen_ The Boomer NARRATIVE is promoted so you redirect your anger away from the actual controllers of the policies responsible. As long as you all keep falling for them they will keep you in their mental prison - as designed.

On the surface, it sounds like Boomers hate you. Or like they have the attention span and logical thinking skills of a goldfish. Neither one of these is true. Their complete dismissal of any of your concerns, and their total refusal to understand your situation or worldview, is actually quite sensible in light of one key fact about them. They're not hateful. They're not dumb. They just have an incredibly low emotional pain threshold. They cannot stand to feel bad about themselves for any reason, even for a moment. When you create a meme like this, or you tell the story of how you are forty years old and can't afford a house because you trained for three different careers and got rugpulled by work visas and offshoring every time... ... then they don't even think about it as a worldview or a perspective or an experience that you have. They don't think about you at all. They think only about the effect on their own self-esteem, which must be parried. You have, you see, told a tale of playing life on hard mode, which implies that they were playing life on easy mode, which implies that they are not wizards of insight and paragons of virtue. That's why they will immediately respond with these incoherent lines about whining and bootstraps and firm handshakes and avocado toast. Of course they don't make sense. They don't have to make sense. The goal isn't to persuade you of anything or engage with you at all. The goal is simply to have an excuse to avoid thinking about something which might make them feel bad. These Boomerisms are magic talismans used to ward off emotional discomfort, in much the same fashion as all the species of plants they smoked their way through when they were your age. I don't see a solution to this. I don't know any way to tell Boomers that Hart-Cellar, CRA1964, DEI, open borders, social welfare programs, anti-racism, gay marriage, gun control, the sexual revolution, etc, were massive mistakes and need to be stopped, while hiding the obvious implication they were the ones who made those mistakes. If we wish to save Western civilization, to make things good enough again that actual Americans can manage to have homes and marriages and children, then we're going to have to find a way to work around the Boomers, because they're never going to get on board.

@Devon_Eriksen_ Don't forget "college for everyone", "you need a degree to get a good job", & "just sign the student loans" parents, teachers, counselors, & nearly every adult in their lives. A friend said Boomers & women are like toddlers, incapable of taking responsibility because of feelings.

I don't assume that ten year olds are the deciders of where adults/families eat. Even if they begged their parents, the parents are the ones with the final say!

Again, boomers can't math. Anyways, per McDonald's information, in the beginning of 1980, a new location would do $1 million in sales in a year, that would double by 1989 They would sell 2000 meals a day minimum averaged out in the US. During that time they made a new McDonald's every 16 hours, tripling in total sales by boomers. In fact it was so incredible, it's called the Golden Age (pun intended off the golden arch) In fact, per a survey done in 1984, 20% of Americans in this time ate specifically McDonald's at least once a week, with a 13% of them every day. These numbers kept growing EXPONENTIALLY to the point that the SuperSize program begun, to help fuel the boomers. So no, it was 3 burgers per year. It was 3 McDonald's burgers specifically at least once a week.
