I really don't think that Europe would have been even a scintilla less unhelpful to us had Trump acted like a diplomat and statesman instead of...well, how he always acts. I just don't. I get why he is so furious with them. I am, too. They're weak, they try to obstruct everything that we do when we do try diplomacy (looking especially at France), and they are only too happy to take all of the benefits of NATO while doing as little as they can get away with to earn them. And they have reason to be mad at us, too, but guess what: I don't care. We're at war. We have people in combat trying to achieve a result that will benefit the entire civilized world, including especially Europe. We weren't even asking them to fight with us, just let us use their airspace. They had to drop to Trump's level and say no. Everything is stupid.
