@scaling01 By being over you mean they having the most used model and pretty much the single company making profit with AI? Huh

google must be in code red internally big names are joining openai and anthropic, researchers are leaving, and gemini 3.5 pro is still delayed but they'll come back -- maybe not to the top, but close, as they still have major advantages, and this pressure will force them to improve

@imnotchalk @Adidotdev I mean, people are praising companies like Anthropic and OpenAI going around the block begging for cash like that's very sustainable and that model will keep up forever.... meanwhile Anthropic can't even keep their stuff online for more than 72 hours without a major instability

@AgenticLazyness @Adidotdev that is a valid point, google has the most potential financial wise if they can release the more competitive models as well it would put them in the best position over the other labs in the long run

gemini 3.5 pro drops july 17 > 2 million token context window > deep think reasoning > $1.25 input / $10 output per million tokens that's cheaper than sonnet 5 and a bigger context than fable 5 3 days from now the entire AI leaderboard reshuffles anthropic is about to feel real pressure

@imnotchalk @Adidotdev One could argue anthropic is making profit, but their fiscal year hasn't yet ended, and it would be their first year making profit, IF that happens. So google is making profits, its the most used model in general, why would they need more

@imnotchalk @Adidotdev people forget that each release from every company gets #1 , including past google models. people in this platform just have brain damage and forget what happened earlier this year. I believe their slow releases are due to sustainability. Google is the single company making $

Google is completely silent about Gemini 3.5 Pro. Logan is busy posting motivational stuff instead of saying anything about their next model. Meanwhile, OpenAI employees, especially the Codex team, are all over X, shipping features ridiculously fast. You can see the difference.

@OfficialLoganK I don’t disagree, but at the same rate, I can’t remember a time when Google (see: top tech country in the world) has had the best model. I can’t even remember a time when Google has had a model that’s even on par with OpenAI or Scamthropic.

it’s surprising to me how many people seem to not understand that great models are built with super high quality curated data finding novel ways to create / get this data is a huge edge

@Conor_D_Dart @ThePaperBridge Though rushing to become the best is not sustainable. That's why Google is the single company making profit from AI, so taking their time seems the best approach

@ThePaperBridge I don't know if I agree, I think they very much want to be the best, but I do agree that they are likely catering to a different market at the moment but also they can take time as they are a massive company and move slowly

One great Gemini release could change the entire narrative around Google.... Gemini 3.5 Pro was expected last month, and after the huge releases we’ve seen over the past 48 hours, I can’t help wondering what’s happening internally. My guess is that Google is in its own version of a red room right now, testing, refining, and making sure the next release is genuinely competitive. At this point, strong benchmarks alone probably won’t be enough. Gemini needs to feel excellent in everyday chat, perform brilliantly in coding, and ideally beat, Fable 5 and GPT 5.6 in real use. I genuinely want Google to succeed here. The somewhat radio silence is slightly concerning, but it could also mean they’re completely focused. And honestly, that may be exactly what Gemini needs right now.

@Tril1boswagginz @Angaisb_ Unlikely, Google is the single company making profits from AI, with its own massive infrastructure, and it's the most used model in the world making it probably the single AI capable of sustaining itself... I assure you Apple cares not about random opinions in this platform

@RpgBlasterRpg @astropol0 Every release from every company usually got #1 in benchmarks, including Google, the issue is that, now benchmarks aren't the only issue, the orange dictator can just block the whole thing if they don't please him enough

Google’s Gemini 3.5 Pro delay timeline is becoming a joke... May 19, Google said it would release Gemini 3.5 Pro within a month. by mid-June, it was delayed to late June by late June, it was pushed to mid-July now in mid-July, new rumors suggest it might slip to late July again Meanwhile, GPT-5.6 and Fable 5 have already been released. At this point, it’s fair to ask is Google delaying because they realized their model needs major improvements to compete, or have they simply lost momentum and direction in the AI race? either way these repeated delays are making Google look increasingly out of touch while others keep shipping....

@IntCyberDigest this claim needs verification before anyone assumes anthropic actually billed a free plan user millions. sounds more like a phishing attempt than a real invoice.

❗️ Anthropic tried to charge a Korean user who was on the free plan with zero API usage $16.6 million. A day earlier, the same invoice was $1.67 million, so it grew roughly 10x overnight. The user says he suspected phishing at first, then found the sender and payment link were Anthropic's official domain. His bank declined the charge attempts for exceeding the card's per-transaction limit... Last month auditing startup Vaudit told it found about $1.7 million in overcharges across $34 million in AI invoices, mostly tied to Claude Code, and after months of GitHub reports about contradictory Anthropic billing emails.
