Colorectal cancer is the nation’s second deadliest cancer and the third most common among men and women. Tonight my wife and I were honored to be part of #bluehopebash to remember and honor those taken by this horrible disease and the survivors @CCAlliance

In the company of my family, I took the oath as the Ruhinda North Member of @Parliament_Ug today afternoon. I thank my constituents for the trust they have placed in me to serve them for yet another term. We have been working together very well, and as their representative, everything I do will be aligned with their needs, as well as the @NRMOnline manifesto and the message H.E. @KagutaMuseveni gave us during his inauguration. He declared this term “kisanja no sleep.” This is the kisanja in which I will not sleep; I will focus on wealth creation for our community. I will closely work with our people to lift them out of poverty by helping them tap into government wealth creation programmes on top of other community initiatives we have been working on together. Congratulations to colleagues who have been successfully sworn in.

Before the Sovereign's arrival at Parliament, the royal bodyguards, officially known as the Yeomen of the Guard, ceremonially search the cellars of the Palace of Westminster. They are led in the procession by a member of parliamentary staff carrying a key to the cellars. The search dates back over 420 years to the Gunpowder Plot of 1605. Today, the search begins in the Prince’s Chamber before moving into the @UKHouseofLords Chamber.

The country has remained stable and secure, and it is expected to continue on this path, as national security has consistently been a top priority for Yoweri Kaguta Museveni. This commitment, rooted in the principles upon which the country was liberated, continues to guide efforts to safeguard peace, unity, and stability across Uganda. #M7SwearsIn2026

The handover of authority is not just symbolic. It is a reminder of duty. The Constitution guides the President. The National Flag represents the country he serves. The Public Seal gives authority to act on behalf of the people. The Keys to the House signal the beginning of work. This is where service begins. #M7SwearsIn2026

Protecting sovereignty is necessary. But sovereignty and citizenship must not be put in conflict. Uganda’s diaspora is not an external actor, it is an extension of the nation, contributing over $2.5B annually in remittances, alongside investment, skills, and global networks. Policy should strengthen that relationship, not introduce ambiguity into it. Build trust. Don’t break it. Use 3–5 max: #Uganda #DiasporaEngagement #PublicPolicy #Remittances #SovereigntyBill
FatwesTV@FatwesTv

#NEWS #SOVEREIGNTY #BILL Ugandans in the diaspora, appearing via Zoom before the joint committee on Defence and Internal Affairs and Legal and Parliamentary Affairs, have urged Parliament to amend the proposed Protection of Sovereignty Bill, 2026. They warn that provisions classifying citizens abroad as foreigners and restricting remittances risk undermining trust, investment, and family support systems, despite the diaspora’s significant economic contribution. Timothy Kangajwe based in the USA said Ugandans abroad are not foreigners. “When a bill defines us as such, it’s not a drafting error, it’s a statement. We send US$2.5 billion home for families, not politics. Don’t put government between us and our children." Brian Mushana Kwesiga, former President Uganda North America Assoication said Protecting sovereignty is right but citizens should not be confused with foreign agents. “It is difficult to ask Ugandans abroad to invest while defining them as foreigners. Build trust, don’t break it." Gloria Nalule, the Executive Director Uganda Global Forum said 77% of diaspora respondents want the bill amended. “Classifying Ugandans abroad as foreigners risks a two-tier citizenship.”

In New York today, The King and Queen have paid their respects at the 9/11 Memorial.   During their time at the site, Their Majesties honoured the lives that were lost during the attacks, and recognised the courage of the men and women involved in the rescue efforts.   This year marks the 25th anniversary of the attacks.
