@chrislinguist I often wonder if I failed to try harder, or if French was just promoted more (I studied longer with French). Today I lament my woeful German language skills. Hindsight is the perfect vision.

If your school offers German, you have access to a language with so much in common with English, relatively easy pronunciation & familiar words, so many practical applications, a gateway to Swedish, Dutch & even Icelandic. German is a language that genuinely rewards your efforts.

I'm so sorry to hear this awful news. When I worked with Steve, I found him to be a man of the utmost integrity, with a skill for simplifying complex financial topics for others. We stayed in touch—both running on the trails. My thoughts are with his family and friends. RIP.
