Yes Mr. Rahul, NEET paper leak is a scam and the Education Minister must be held accountable. But what about the Congress govt in Rajasthan when Ashok Gehlot was Chief Minister a few years ago? The SI recruitment paper leaked there too. The worst part? Many students found out only after the selected candidates had already gotten jobs. When BJP fails, you become revolutionary. So, this WB elec'll be remembered not for who won, but for when the body entrusted to protect that vote failed miserably. Sukumar Sen the First CEC - The unsung Hero of India’s Democracy. Noteworthy, that during that time also it was a pertinent question that "WHO IS INDIAN". Millions of partition victims without any document, any literacy (84% population was illiterate) had nothing to prove their identity. It became more hectic when the Constitution makers decided to adopt universal adult franchise in its first election. The RSS even then opposed it vehemently. They insisted the right to vote should be on property, or taxpaying status. They said the general population was unsuited for equal voting rights. But our constitution makers were determined and thus it was decided any Indian citizen 21 yrs of age and above, residing in a particular constituency more than 180 days would be eligible to vote in that constituency. Those so-called flagbearers of Democracy watched us Indians adopting Universal Adult Franchise On the other hand, they - The US held their first Presidential Election in 1789 but their women were included as voters in 1920. The UK first allowed its women to vote in 1932, about 100 yrs after its first elections. Despite India achieved Independence the British Governor General was still the highest chair in India. It wasn't going to change until the Government formed . So Pt Nehru wanted to hold the election in the early month of 1951. But CEC Sukumar Sen told Nehru to wait. His task was huge, almost to built from scratch. He did it. Not him alone but other heroes like SN Mukherjee, KV Padmanavan, PS Subramanian, BN Rau, due to all of their collaborate heroic from 25 Oct, 1951 to 21 February, 1952 the democratic exercise of Tryst of destiny held. Total 173 million Indians, 49% of the population were registered as voters - largest in any country. The homeless, jobless, beggars in Mumbai living in the land of Municipality without any permission or rent were also included in the voter list. They got an identity for the first time as Indian CITIZENS. When India adopted universal adult franchise in its first elections, like RSS their colonial master the British administration claimed in India giving voting rights to all would be disastrous and misfit. India went ahead. Thanks to those revolutionary thinkers in the Constituent Assembly. Thanks to the bureaucrats of those days. For all their combined efforts India became an exception. From there to today - when 27 LAKH mapped voters were excluded in the name of logical discripency. From inclusion to exclusion. From festival of Democracy to procession of Disenfranchise. From Good Faith to Bad Faith. From India's First CEC Sukumar Sen to present day Gyanesh Kumar. - A telling story itself.
