I think (non-professional) graduate degrees are likely to become somewhat low-status soon, because they appeal mostly to boxcheckers at this point, but not undergrad. The reason more women go to college than men is because while teachers, early childhood workers, and nurses are often (albeit not always) in the same social class as high-skilled, blue-collar men, they need degrees that their male counterparts don’t. Women who aren’t insane usually have little problem marrying “down” education levels as long as they’re within their own social class, e.g., a female MD is not going to shy away from a BA-holding tech bro or an MBA-holding consultant.
