You whipped your MPs to vote against a national inquiry into Pakistani rape gangs. Your government also placed unvetted men in hotels near schools. You don’t care about protecting children, this is a political move for digital ID.
Keir Starmer@Keir_Starmer

We are banning social media access for under 16s. These days kids must find their feet in a world where technology intrudes into every area of their life. I just can’t let that go on anymore. So we’re giving children their childhoods back.

It is fantastic news that the Government has finally woken up to the dangers of social media for young people. This is an important step in helping parents protect childhood for children. Huge credit goes to @LauraTrottMP and my Shadow Cabinet for relentlessly fighting for this. Conservatives welcome this latest Labour U-turn, and will continue to work for the best implementation of the policy.

Last night our armed forces intercepted one of Russia’s sanctioned ships in the Channel as part of the UK’s work cutting off the revenues that fund missiles, drones and the continued bombardment of Ukrainian cities. These illegal ships exist to move sanctioned Russian oil and gas around the world to keep money flowing into Putin's war machine. We are taking action against this illegal activity in our waters. Thank you to our armed forces and the NCA for their work to interdict this vessel.

🇬🇧 ED MILIBAND WANTS TO BAN UNDERFLOOR HEATING AND HEATED TOWEL RACKS Ed Miliband reportedly wants to ban underfloor heating and heated towel racks as part of the push towards Net Zero. This is the madness now running Britain. While families are already being hammered by bills, taxes and collapsing services, Labour wants to police how people heat their own bathrooms. Scrap Net Zero before it scraps what is left of common sense.

Every single person who still cringes at the memory of trying to bullshit their way through an interview or exam question: today, the slate is wiped clean. Set down your burden of shame. Nothing - nothing, I say - could touch this.

Right so let me get this correct. The Labour Party want to give 16 year olds the vote but not allow them to have social media. This would mean all the political information they get would be from teachers or parents. Well political indoctrination in education is about to get a hell of a lot worse.

This is Callum Peacock. He battered his girlfriend with a golf club, threw bleach and paint at her, and burned a memorial shirt of her deceased grandmother but has avoided an immediate prison sentence. The 19-year-old defendant, from St Helens, subjected his partner to a cruel three-hour ordeal inside their home. Police officers arrived at the flat to find the victim covered in white paint and curled up in a ball on the bathroom floor. She was audibly sobbing and shrieking through a hole in the door, which was still smouldering and smoking. During the assault, the teenager hit her with a broom handle and a golf club before putting her in a chokehold from behind. When she tried to hide in the bathroom, he smashed the door with the golf club and used an aerosol and a lighter to set fire to it. He then threw dumbbells and a bottle of bleach at her, causing the liquid to splash onto her body. In what was described in court as an extremely selfish act, he took hold of a memorial t-shirt featuring a photograph of her deceased grandmother. He set fire to the garment right in front of her while telling her that her nan would rot in hell. The attack came just two days after another incident where he struck his girlfriend with a hammer following an argument. Following his arrest, he openly threatened his victim in front of police officers, stating that he was going to smash her face in when he got out. But he has now walked free from court after a judge handed him an 18-month imprisonment suspended for 18 months. The court heard he had already spent nearly five months in custody on remand, which the judge noted was the equivalent of a nine-month sentence for a teenager with no previous convictions. He was also given a five-year restraining order and a rehabilitation activity requirement of up to 20 days. Another kick in the teeth, metaphorically speaking to the brave young woman who endured his cowardly attacks. The justice in this country cares more about the accused than the victims.

Ultimately, it's probably the right decision for all parties. With his age, potential and the quick adaptation of Lammens, there doesn't seem to be a clear pathway for Vitek to stay and continue his development, even as a No.2. United would also be able to secure a full-profit sale, which inevitably factors into the equation. That said, it’d be a shame to see him leave. I’ve always rated him highly and it wouldn’t surprise me at all if he follows a similar trajectory to Dean Henderson and goes on to establish himself as a top-level goalkeeper elsewhere. Wouldn’t be shocked to see him in the Premier League within a few years, either if not a move to Ipswich this year.
