@narindertweets Are you suggesting it would be better if more white women and white babies were more likely to die?

Black and south Asian women more likely to die in child birth & brown and black babies more likely to be still born in Britain 2026. How is this even a thing?

The median is actually £33,980. Which is extremely low. You ain't buying a house on that salary or starting a family. You'd be lucky to even rent on that salary in London where a huge proportion of Civil Servant are based. Also, include student loan which is 9% of your income after the threshold. Minimum wage is forecasted to hit 30k in 2029, and the student threshold and tax bands are being frozen. Civil Service is an awful place to work unless you joined decades ago and have a great pension.. I was paid 35k after 4 years, and having a degree. I left and instantly went from 35k to 55k in private sector for significantly less work. Now, I earn significantly more as a consultant in my old team lol.

@Alan_Turings @ajwillshire Not true. Median salary for civil servants is around £35k. Even the lower paying depts like MoJ and DWP the average salary is £30k. Civil service pay has flatlined for a while, and the minimum wage has risen far too much, but they're not badly paid, especially outside London.

And today in "pay peanuts, get monkeys", we have this entry from HM Treasury. Seriously, paying someone three-four times this salary would be massively worthwhile in order to get the right person. Why can't our government understand this? Is it because the classicists would have their noses put out of joint?

Let me be very clear about this… I would not treat an attack on the Falklands in the same way Margaret Thatcher did… I would treat it in the same way Donald Trump would treat an attack on Mar-a-logo… If Argentina were to ever attack the Falklands, we should meet them with FIRE AND FURY the likes of which they have never seen! I wouldn’t stop until EVERY piece of military hardware they possess, both around the Falklands and in ARGENTINA ITSELF was little more than a twisted pile of scrap metal! The Falklands are as British as the Isle of White. We should NEVER tolerate an attack on Britain.
British Intel@TheBritishIntel

🚨 CHILE SIDES WITH ARGENTINA ON THE FALKLANDS Chile has officially declared its support for Argentina’s claim over the Falkland Islands. This came in a joint statement after a meeting between the two countries’ leaders. The Falklands are British territory - defended with British blood in 1982. Now more countries are openly testing us because they sense weakness in London. Britain must make it crystal clear: The Falklands are ours and will remain ours forever.

@ajwillshire This is in no way a defence of the civil service, but "head of" jobs are not that senior. There is a huge amount of title inflation. Certain civil service salaries should definitely increase, but job titles do not correspond well to the private sector.

@DuxVul @BladeoftheS Actually it was closer to 20% before Tony Blair came to power. Also, when Thatcher destroyed what was left of Industrial Britain and transitioned Britain towards a service-based economy... you kinda need a highly skilled and educated workforce.

An average graduate finishes University with nearly £50,000 in debt. To pay back just the interest on 6% they would have to start on £58,000 a year. Just 10% of people earn this.

@FrankBefield @Heccles94 No, the majority of my council tax goes towards adult social care. In addition, my general taxation, the majority goes on pensioners and NHS spending which is overwhelmingly used by the elderly.

@Alan_Turings @Heccles94 I doubt that because 25% of your council tax goes towards pensions so that would leave 5% for everything else.

@FrankBefield @Heccles94 That's not true. 70% of my council tax goes towards social care. The vast majority my taxes goes to NHS spending, which is meantly spent on old age care or pensions

@RationeSolum @Fat_Jacques @BenKentish Not true, you wil repay the actual loan but not the added interest. So its not progressive. The richer you're, the less you borrowed, thus the less you pay back. Its not a loan its a graduate tax.

@Alan_Turings @Fat_Jacques @BenKentish That makes it progressive, you pay it all off if you’re a high earner, it gets wiped if you don’t hit your earning potential…
