A while ago, I got my @JuliaSesame doll an AAC device from @TheButterflyPig.
It's adorable, but has only 6 words, far from the 12000 in Proloquo (by @AssistiveWare).
As a fierce AAC advocate, I knew I had to presume competence and find her a more robust system. (1/4)

I've deleted my previous tweet that mentioned Greta's autism because - although I only referred to it because she states it in her own Twitter biog - people decided to take offence at a fact. Even though they had no problem with this woman calling a man "small dick". Yawn. 2/2

My main objective in this documentary is to help raise awareness of all speech conditions in children who are born with problems, & adults who have acquired speech problems or had a stroke or been in an accident. If you watch on @ITV Wednesday 9pm I hope it comes over in that way

I asked my (autistic) daughter:
"How was your night?".
She got confused 😕
I reframed my qn to:
"Were you too hot last night?".
She understood and relaxed. Am reminded that so much of spoken English has implied meaning. A little effort to be more clear goes a long way 😁
