WOW! The numbers look good. BC's non-profit and co-op housing sector is very entrepreneurial. They are looking to preserve low-cost housing in 25 apartment buildings with a combined total of 1,363 units for over 3,000 residents. dailyhive.com/vancouver/bc-r…

Edmonton Land Assessment map is LIVE!🗺️With over 40 hectares of viable municipal land (much of it a stone's throw from downtown), the city has the ability to build hundreds of units of housing on land they already own. #yegpoli View the map here: hart.ubc.ca/land-assessmen…

California's population is roughly the same as all of Canada. Cali has 161,548 unhoused people, while our national estimate is 235,000. The total unhoused population in the U.S. is 582,000. We have 40% of their total homelessness, yet ≈10% of their population of 331 million.

California has a massive homelessness problem. ▪️ 70,000 are now homeless in Los Angeles County, California. ▪️ California has 30% of people experiencing homelessness in the United States.

@ForAffordableCA 1) Prove it. Post the data & calculations that support this claim, disaggregated by CMA/CA and REIT. 2) Why rely on median local renters' household incomes? What about REITs' actual tenants? How many REIT tenant households pay <30% in rent?

These REITS make a lot of assertions, without citing any evidence. We'd like to see links to financial statements, truly independent reports (not ones you paid EY for), and also links to GoC policies/standards where referenced. foraffordable.ca/did-you-know

Doug Ford says cutting planning regulations & taxes on developers will spur them to build “attainable” homes. But attainable for whom? The latest StatCan data shows 3/5 condo apartments & 1/4 houses built in Ontario over the past 5 years were not occupied by their owner. 🧵👇

"a deal was in reach for the co-op to buy the land for about $6.5 million in 2017; however... a majority of members voted against it" In the end, co-ops are democracies. And sometimes that means bad choices. 😔 timescolonist.com/real-estate-ne…

Housing rights take on new importance in a changing climate. Smokey skies, extreme heat -- and yes, pandemics -- mean sheltering in place. But what if you don't have shelter? Or A/C? Or an air filter?
