Fellow Ugandans, especially the Bazzukulu, following a scientific assessment by our CBRN team, I have written to Matongo Wood Works Company confirming that traditional wooden food containers made from omunyama (mahogany) and omusisa (albizia) are safe and durable. I have directed support for this initiative so that we free ourselves from the colonial habit of relying on fragile and unsafe ebyatika (the breakables).
Our indigenous knowledge systems served our people well for generations. It is time to consciously revive and promote them as part of building a self-reliant and modern Ugandan economy.

Nonve CFR remains a gazetted forest. Conservation efforts are ongoing, with restoration programs actively working to conserve its biodiversity& eco value. Any change to the status of Nonve CFR must follow the requirements of the National Forestry and Tree Planting Act, Cap 160.

@DailyMonitor Efforts to restore Nonve CFR are gaining momentum, with illegal land titles submitted to the Lands Ministry for cancellation. Meanwhile, a proposal to allocate 500ha for an industrial park has not been approved. Protecting our forests must remain a priority.

Local leaders in Wakiso District have raised concern over the degradation of Nonve Central Forest Reserve in Kakiri, citing encroachment by human settlements and proposed government plans to establish an industrial park on the land. Ms Betty Ethel Naluyima, the District Woman MP, has called for the allocation of alternative land for reforestation before any takeover of the forest reserve is effected.
