@LittleKeegs0 @LinkofSunshine This was actually after the shootings happened; he successfully helped to prevent further violent escalation and saved many lives

Professor Glenn Frank, 56 years ago, after the Kent State shootings: It is an absolute miracle that the massacre wasn’t ten times worse than it was. Rest in Peace to the students killed.

@zerepwrestling Unless someone has gone full Motley Crue on a hotel room it should take like 25-30min to clean the average hotel room.

@iTzDanMontana @ImNotOwned Idk man sales in the US for new autos is 14-17 million every year, used car sales is like 2.5x that (35-40M). I don’t think scrapping 700k used vehicles in the summer of 09 could really matter in a market that of that size

Farming animals requires huge amounts of additional vegetables and grains being grown in bad conditions to feed animals. These arguments don't apply at all. 50k likes on these completely fake ideas.

veganism is not inherently a morally superior position. the vegetables and fruits you consume are also harvested via immense cruelty & exploitation, not to even mention indigenous practices or food deserts. if you care about animals, the position to take is anti-capitalism.

@ellenrodden @JBPritzker The gas tax is 66¢ per gallon, and eliminating or suspending it would bring prices down to $4.26 (still a lot higher than before the needless Iran war!). Plus the retail gas market is not entirely competitive so it’s unlikely prices would come down even that much

@JBPritzker It's funny, you said nothing during the Biden administration when gas was over $5.00 per gallon. Then there is the outrageous gasoline tax.

Every time you fill up your tank, you’re paying for Trump’s war. $21.7 billion more — and counting. Darren Bailey backs Trump, supports his tariffs, and stays silent while costs go up. Illinois families deserve better.

I don’t buy the idea that libraries will go away since everyone can just write their own now. Maybe for small internal company use-cases. But libraries are not just code, they’re time invested in edge cases, they’re hundreds of hours of human eyes. I don’t want to replace that.

This rules. I’m a great society democrat too
Sahil Kapur@sahilkapur

.@AOC responds to this trend: "BOOOOO" "This race to try to see who can be exempt from participating in society is not a conversation that I'm interested in," she tells me. "I'm a Great Society Democrat, and I believe in building that together. And I think that the discourse around 'Everyone, let's all be like billionaires and opt out of our taxes,' I don't find it an inspiring message."

New: Tax cuts are the HOTTEST new idea for Democrats Booker & Van Hollen (both 2028 prospects) unveil big tax-cut plans. Katie Porter says exempt $100K in income from California taxes. Keisha Lance Bottoms says exempt teachers from Georgia taxes. Pitched as answer to cost-of-living struggles. BUT: It has spurred a “wonk revolt” from liberal and moderate policy experts. The latter say the math won’t add up. The former say treating taxes as a punishment undermines the pursuit of a safety net. nbcnews.com/politics/elect…

We need to re-legalize the very cheap, bare bones housing that keeps people off the street. More broadly, we need policymakers to be ok with letting people build types of housing that they would not particularly want to live in.
