@AlexMacL34 @Missile1nbound I've provided plenty of context and if you're going to start the conversation by being an asshole then you shouldn't expect a civil conversation afterwards.

@Missile1nbound I just went cross eyed trying to figure out what his schedule has to do with a show he’s not on. I understand you’re mad but just know that your anger is very much misguided and no you do not have all the information and context. see you on Monday.

Want to hit it more like Adam Scott who has increased his clubhead speed because he is learning more into what increases clubhead speed he’s hitting over 124 clubhead speed on tour. Getting a proper pressure shift early. Most amateurs sway late because they aren’t shifting

@JeffVeillette There’s no concrete evidence other than listening to his interviews. I think a lot of fans find his analysis and evaluations refreshing and logical. Most NHL GMs are still in the mindset that Travis Sanheim is a better player than Matthew Schafer because he’s really tall.

@AlexMacL34 Not saying he can’t, but what evidence do we have that he’s got a high-end ability to evaluate players?

Has Pronger laid out that blueprint anywhere? Serious question, I'm open to listening. Most of what I've seen has been some form of "Winning teams have winners, like me, a winner"
Habs Jabs@oley4424

@JeffVeillette 1) he is precise in how a winning team should be assembled. So at least we’d know the criteria to evaluate him on. 2) could he ever assemble it?

@JeffVeillette The thing you are missing with a guy like Pronger is his ability to evaluate players. The Leafs have been stuck with GMs who do a horrible job evaluating players. Pronger may not be suited for Shanahans job right away (Shanahan never was) but he would be an asset to a team.

I’ve spent the last hour digging through interviews and it seems his solution for any non-contending team is “slow rebuild”, which is probably the smart thing to say when angling to get a first time GM/POHO gig with a big leash

@JeffVeillette But you do run a hockey website you want people to read. Pronger is a HOF player who knows the game better than most. Did Pronger tell you he was angling to be hired by an NHL team? Ppl are much better off listening to Pronger’s thoughts on the game than some geek running a blog.

He’s an ex-player who used to play like fans want the team to be now (disregarding that finding another Pronger is near impossible), and he speaks somewhere between Business Course Salesman and an AI chatbot, so people will eat anything he pushes up
Willyston Riellander@nylanderthews

Genuine question for Leafs fans: What is the appeal with Chris Pronger for President? I get he was a fierce competitor on the ice, but I'd be targeting someone who has NHL executive experience for that role.

Of cities with the four big sports franchises, is the NHL top two in any city? Most cared about? Of cities with three big sports franchises, is the NHL dead last in all of them? Most cared about My co-worker swears that no hockey franchise is cared about more than NFL, NBA, MLB

@MNWildWatcher @ianwcanucks What about all the other games? You guys love watching little kids play but once they hit 18 you’re no longer interested eh? Not surprising for the country that breeded Epstein.

@ianwcanucks We fill an 18,000 seat arena for our high school hockey tournament but we don’t give a fuck about watching Germany play Czechia at 1pm on a Thursday. Canadians do because you guys don’t have all five major sports teams and college teams of every sport to watch

Minnesota, the state of hockey, hosted the 2026 World Juniors and couldn't even fill half the arena in games not featuring the US... can't be surprised that a league that relies so much on ticket revenue chooses Canada as the host. The US games only averaged 79.8% capacity lol

Like all hockey fans I’m fired up for the World Cup of Hockey to return but after winning the gold medal in EVERYTHING it’s insane to me no games will be played in the United States of America

WOW. COACH K saying Jordan is #1 and it many people are in that room and he mentions Kobe 2nd. Y’all gone have a heart attack when yall realize that some of the greatest basketball minds in the world have Jordan first, then Kobe and even others before they even think about LeBron. But here’s the thing, that’s no shade. LeBron is up there. But this idea that Kobe is no where near the top when so many NBA LEGENDS say Jordan-Kobe is so close and LeBron isn’t always up there with them Jordan/Kobe in their minds. And again, THATS OK. Because there’s some coaches who believe LeBron is #1 or believe Kobe is #3 behind LeBron. But the thing is, None of the great minds think Kobe is fringe top 10. That’s a bleacher report thing that’s not real life basketball 🫡

he wasn't here when they didn't sign them before becoming RFAs. He opted not to match offer sheet. I thought matching Holloway would have been wise, but he made up for it by getting Podkolzin. The Jarry trade has been awful. That is the main blemish. But every GM has a bad trade. He needs Ingram to play well, and if he does he did get him for nothing, so that is a good move to counter a terrible one.

Honest question: Should Stan’s job be in question this offseason? The Jarry trade, losing Broberg and Holloway, and summer signings that haven’t worked out. The team looks like it’s taken a step back from what he was left with. @JasonGregor

Back in April 2025, Bleacher Report published an article titled “6 Teams That Are Screwed for the Foreseeable Future.” Less than a year later, 4 of those teams are in a playoff spot with under 20 games left: — Buffalo Sabres — New York Islanders — Pittsburgh Penguins — Boston Bruins What a wild year.

And the cycle will never stop. Gretzky is arguably the greatest player ever, but as a coach, not so much. Gilmour (my absolute favourite player of all time) was an abysmal GM/President in the OHL. Just because someone has a playing pedigree, does not mean it will translate.
Bad Treliving@MapleLeaves34

I hope MLSE hires Chris Pronger as Maple Leafs Team President. Oversee how the on-ice product is constructed, you'd expect a solid defensively and tough hockey team. He's won 2 Gold Medals, a Stanley Cup, a Hart and Norris Trophy. That's the type of culture you want around.
