BRONX TRANSPORTATION Senator Chuck Schumer and I secured $150 million dollars for the rehabilitation of the Cross Bronx Expressway. The $150 million dollar investment is a down payment toward ultimately capping the Cross Bronx in the hopes of combating both catastrophic climate change and air pollution—a central cause of the asthma epidemic in the Bronx.
LEGISLATION MENTAL HEALTH In partnership with Congressman Michael Burgess, I co-led a bipartisan bill, known as the SUPPORT Act, that would expand the availability of in-patient mental health care for substance use disorders. The House passed the bill by an overwhelming bipartisan vote of 386-37.
Yesterday, my office partnered with @HHSGov Office of Climate Change and Health Equity for a roundtable discussion about the pressing need to reduce greenhouse gases emitted from healthcare facilities and hospitals — a major employer in the Bronx. Thanks @FordhamNYC for hosting!
