About #OneInFifty British people is a permanent, full-time wheelchair user. As far as I know, there's only ever been one wheelchair using MP: Dame @AnneBegg. How can #Parliament represent our interests when it excludes us? No wonder wheelchair access is STILL so patchy in the UK!

@johnpringdns johnpringdns I'm a disabled person/activist facing a "Care Tax" of £135.77/week more all entire PIP care component. Council has includes non-existent savings & won't accept DRE for wheelchair tyres/maintenance without receipts I can’t afford. Is this a wider story?

New research commissioned by a Deaf-led charity has found that nearly all users of British Sign Language (BSL) would rather watch TV programmes created in BSL rather than those featuring an interpreter in the corner of the screen. disabilitynewsservice.com/research-finds…

Lost in all the noise is Hannah’s fantastic maiden speech. Clothing choice shouldn’t matter. Wha does matter is what they say and what their policies are. Everything else is just background noise.
Caroline Lucas@CarolineLucas

Such a powerful maiden speech from our amazing new Green MP Hannah Spencer - take a few moments to listen & celebrate that a bit more humanity has entered Westminster & hope is beginning to feel more normal 👇

.@Tanni_GT barnstorming it for Deaf and Disabled people, telling it like it is for us, in the House of Lords. Such a shame so few in the Chamber to hear as too many are guilty of the prejudices she talks about without realising there is a big problem with their attitudes.
Nikki da Costa@nmdacosta

The magnificent @Tanni_GT If this woman is your enemy, what does it say about your cause? Targeted by Lord Falconer and Dignity in Dying. The fact they dismiss the concerns of disabled people, tells you a lot about them and their Bill... Listen to the insight she brings...

Yeah @SouthernRailUK I think this might be discrimination - can you clarify the D50 discount terms because I’ve never had to have someone with me… #DisabledByTheRailway
Vikki (she/they)👩🏻‍🦼🏳️‍🌈🧚🏻‍♀️🧜🏻‍♀️🐲🦄 ♿️@vix_the_star

Travelling peak time today, so asked @SouthernRailUK station for a D50 return. I was refused the discount because I didn’t have someone with me and was only allowed the railcard discount. I’m travelling in a wheelchair and never been refused before. When did this change?

Down's Syndrome Association
For World Down Syndrome Day, 21 March 2026, CoorDown launches the international awareness campaign "JUST EVOLVE”. The campaign calls on each of us to take a cultural step forward: to leave behind in the past, those words of disability used to insult, ridicule or degrade. The message of the campaign is simple: leave the R-word and offensive language about disability, in the past. Because we evolve. And our language should too. For the film, an international professional cast was chosen, with 19-year-old Noah Matthews Matofsky, a young English actor with Down's syndrome, as the protagonist. Well done Noah! 🤩 The DSA are so excited to be involved in this important campaign. Please give the campaign a watch below.💚
CoorDown@coordown

Using disability-related words as insults is a thing of the past. Update your language to build a more equitable world for everyone. #JustEvolve #WorldDownSyndromeDay #WDSD26 Find out more at justevolve.org
