@AlienDNA2020 @akpwoiw27 @zachweinberg It’s not individuals who will buy it. They will buy cheaper property and rebuild, get tax incentives for affordable housing, etc. in the end they pocket the profit while your grandma is forced to move from her 1 bedr so that she can pass $ on to you instead of the gov cronies

@ReadThinkTweet2 @zachweinberg Right now the model is to collect from the working class via taxes on salary income way higher than investment income. It should be the reverse. Lower or even eliminate taxes on salary and increase taxes on investments and assets.

@AlienDNA2020 @zachweinberg Yeah, sure. Collect from the .05% who hold most wealth. Mamdani is fleecing middle class workers out of hard earned little they have. Property gets distressed and mega rich buy all of it. You will work to eat. Despite your parents sacrifice to give you a chance at upward mobility

@ReadThinkTweet2 @akpwoiw27 @zachweinberg Why would billionaires buy an asset that gets taxed out of oblivion at 750k? Billionaires will not touch NYC real estate if you make it a terrible investment. Real estate will be just shelter for average Joe.

@akpwoiw27 @AlienDNA2020 @zachweinberg But it’s what will happen. Billionaires will buy all the distressed property from middle class they are artificially deflating before swooping in. They will own everything, and Mamdani is trying to make it easy for them. Your kids will work to eat. 750k is middle class.

@ReadThinkTweet2 @zachweinberg Far from a commie. The reality is young people have no chance because everything is skewed to cater to the old who hold most of the wealth. Something has to give for the young to survive.

@AlienDNA2020 @zachweinberg Yeah, commie. It’s a land grab for sure, but not to make life affordable for you. You will work to eat. Tax base departs - no more welfare. You will be dictated what type of housing you are allowed to occupy. While someone will own most of it and control it. It won’t be you.

@dahvnyc @News12BX This is what makes sense. The business owner is complaining her customers can’t double park.

the redesign repurposed parking spots at intersections only and left space for illegal double parking, which is what she's really talking about. @news12bx should ask to see her books before parroting talking points that make new yorkers less safe.

@CaryKelly11 Those numbers are not impressive. If true I wouldn’t bother cooling the food. The mantra of resistant starch sounded more interesting than reality.

@EndWokeness Seems pretty decent. Half an hour of that two times a week will help you from losing muscle mass. They need some advice with the diet.

@aakashgupta “Food diaries expose that nutrition science operates on vibes and then reverse-engineers the statistics to match.” Don’t we do that with everything? There is an observation in reality, and then a story to try explaining it. Nutrition, stock market, weather, ….

Nutrition science buried its most embarrassing finding for 20 years because it contradicted every dietary guideline they’d ever written. Harvard tracked 190,000+ people across three studies starting in 1986. Half a cup of ice cream per day was associated with a 20% lower risk of type 2 diabetes. A doctoral student named Ardisson Korat later found the same half-cup daily was linked to lower cardiovascular disease risk in diabetics too. The researchers tried to kill the finding. They ran every statistical test they could think of to make it disappear. Controlled for reverse causation. Stripped out data from people who changed diets after health diagnoses. The effect shrank but stayed statistically significant. Multiple independent scientists confirmed the ice cream signal was as strong as, or stronger than, the yogurt signal. Yogurt got published and promoted. Ice cream got buried. Same data quality, same cohorts, opposite treatment by the field. Food diaries expose that nutrition science operates on vibes and then reverse-engineers the statistics to match. When the data cooperates, you get a landmark study. When it doesn’t, you get a buried dissertation. Ice cream’s glycemic index is lower than brown rice. That single fact should tell you how much of what you’ve been told about “healthy eating” is evidence-based versus reputation-based.
Brian 🔰@brianwut

harvard can't figure out why ice cream eaters are healthier. it's because ice cream is the only food nobody eats out of obligation or guilt. the food diary is an accidental personality test and "eats ice cream on purpose, reports it honestly" is just measuring internal locus of control

actually i think zohran should do this with even more stuff. litter pickup. street sweeping. crossing guards. park maintenance. i dont even care. employ the citys citizens to do beautification. i think thats worth 35/hr and it benefits everyone.
signüll@signulll

zohran mamdani gave out $35 per hour to shovel snow to any person, so naturally each side walk intersection is now being shoveled by like 7 ppl. this is exactly how the government operates: without thinking about any second order affects & also because spending other ppl’s money (tax) is super duper easy. show me the incentives & i will show you the outcome.

You two are commingling paying a decent wage for physical labor in dire need with a “job guarantee”for any sort of trivial job. Not the same thing. They should use the same program to fix the city. Would be great if you could offer $40/hr to fix the potholes. But how many have the skills for that?

🚨I have bad news everyone 🚨 After 9 years eating ketogenic, no processed carbs, no sugar, very little fruit but plenty of steak and eggs, I regret to inform you about my most recent heart scan and the ultrasounds of my arteries. My most recent calcium scan was zero, and my carotids and femoral arteries are completely free of any plaque 😮 Why is this bad? Somewhere, on some corner of the earth there is a vegan who will be suffering to see me thrive eating animals.

Sometimes the market becomes so dumb it’s almost hard to believe. The options market for $DUOL has hit this point. Complete idiocy. Today I sold $90 strike puts expiring in January 2028 for $32.60. If assigned I would be paying $57.40 per share. At this point $DUOL would be valued at $2.66B. They have $1.1B of cash on their balance sheet. That brings their enterprise value to $1.56B. Their current cash flow run rate is roughly $300m. That would put their enterprise value to cash flow at 5X. In the meantime they’re growing 37%. Their cash flow is growing even faster. There’s zero chance that AI eliminates the desire to learn languages, let alone different subjects. We’ve seen zero impact to their business thus far. That’s about as close to free money as it gets.

Zohran Mamdani is paying New Yorkers $45 per hour to shovel snow in New York. There are 16 people standing around poking at this little pile of snow. This alone is costing taxpayers $720/hour. What a joke.
