#WorldCOPDDay “Short of Breath, Think COPD” Helmholtz Munich Drives Research for New Diagnostics, Therapies and Prevention Strategies🫁 👉t1p.de/2sxmc #COPD, the Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, is a progressive and currently incurable lung disease in which the airways become inflamed and permanently narrowed (obstruction). 💡Worldwide, COPD ranks as the third leading cause of death, with over three million people affected in Germany alone. The challenge: lung damage can occur long before a formal diagnosis is made. Early warning signs like coughing or shortness of breath are often overlooked or underestimated. The World COPD Day 2025 aims to raise awareness of COPD and to highlight the importance of early diagnosis, as the disease is often detected too late. 🌟At #HelmholtzMunich, researchers are driving the development of new diagnostics, therapies, and prevention strategies for COPD.
