This research by Queen Mary University of London should be a wake up call for the UK government and judicial institutions: 286 political prisoners in Britain, held in relation to their activism for Palestinian rights or against fossil fuel. Prison sentences for acts of direct action or civil disobedience (which were once rare) are now being imposed with increasing length and frequency. In Great Britain. theguardian.com/law/2026/may/2…

#WhenTheWorldSleeps Palestine stands as the moral compass of our time. Exposing Apartheid and its crimes, their root causes and implications, is necessary to ensure the world "wake up" and work together to overcome it. Together we can and we will.
Bookshop, NY@Paysferemart

When the World Sleeps: Stories, Words, and Wounds of Palestine by Francesca Albanese The first woman to serve as United Nations Special Rapporteur for the Occupied Palestinian Territory conveys the spirit of a people through 10 unforgettable stories of resilience and humanity. Francesca Albanese is the most lucid voice against Israel’s apartheid policies in Gaza and the West Bank, a voice that has been heard around the world when it comes to speaking the truth about the Palestinian genocide. In the wake of October 7, 2023, and Israel’s retaliatory war, the renowned Italian jurist has become a lightning rod for her staunch defense of human rights.  Reflecting on her years living in Jerusalem and her personal and professional journey toward understanding the Palestinian struggle, Albanese pays tribute to 10 people whose profoundly affecting stories opened her eyes, from Hind Rajab, a young Palestinian girl killed by Israeli forces, to the remarkable Jewish scholars who acted as Albanese’s mentors: forensic architect Eyal Weizman, trauma expert Gabor Maté, and Holocaust historian Alon Confino. When the World Sleeps is a courageous testimony of the harsh reality that Palestinians face. It raises critical questions about the past, present, and future of Palestine: What are the consequences of the occupation? Where is a refugee’s home? In what conditions do Palestinians live? With the uncertain end of the war, will there be a Palestinian state? Will Palestinians have the right to self-determination, and will they be able to live in peace, free at last from the coercion of Israel? Beware @Sadlers_Wells the most expensive seats in the house I. The first four rows have the worst lines of sight. Totally ruined the Crystal Pite ballet which was not visible. Director of operations Mark Smedley please address this and take complaints seriously .

One of my most popular articles ever included a long extract from a powerful closing speech by barrister Rajiv Menon during a Palestine Action trial in January. In the end, the jury refused to convict the six defendants. Menon is now on trial for that closing speech – for reminding the jury that they had a 350-year-old right in law to follow their conscience in reaching a verdict, even if it meant defying a direction from the judge to convict. Paradoxically, Menon joked in his speech that, because of that earlier legal principle, the judge, unlike his counterpart in 1670, could not lock them, the jurors, up were they to choose to follow their consciences. Instead, the judge is seeking to lock up the barrister. Does 2026 qualify as an improvement on 1670? It is believed that this is the first time a barrister has been tried for comments made to a jury in his closing speech. That should serve as a potent reminder of just us how authoritarian the current political moment is, and of how quickly long-established legal rights are being dismantled to protect British collusion in genocide. Read my article – and the part of the speech for which Menon is being tried – here: jonathan-cook.net/blog/2026-01-1…

Met Police Commander Mark Rowley has made dishonest & reckless comments in suggesting any of the Palestine marches have sought to pass near synagogues. As PSC Deputy Director Ryvka Barnard explains, “None of our marches or proposed march routes has ever targeted a synagogue or even directly passed one along its route, and the Met Police knows that.”
Middle East Eye@MiddleEastEye

The organisers of the pro-Palestine marches in central London have strongly criticised remarks by Metropolitan Police Commissioner Mark Rowley, accusing him of spreading “dangerous misinformation” about the intentions of the marches calling for a ceasefire in Gaza middleeasteye.pulse.ly/pvsuqmbpra

The ‘antisemitic terrorism’ narrative around the Golders Green incident on Wednesday has now collapsed. The alleged assailant was mentally unwell with previous convictions for stabbing, dating back years, and he had left psychiatric care in recent days. One of his three victims (yes three, not two!) was a Muslim. While suffering an apparent mental health crisis, two Met officers kicked his head in IDF-style and then the Met justified it like a Netanyahu press conference. We’re supposed to believe this man was an ‘antisemitic terrorist’ in the pay of Iran, motivated to attack Jews because of pro-Palestine protests and chants. This is a total sham and deeply insidious. The mainstream media, politicians, and the Metropolitan Police are colluding with Zionists to exploit this attack to further erode freedom of expression and assembly, and to expand Jewish militias in London. Welcome to the complete Zionisation of British politics!

A 400-page legal petition filed by the Britain Owes Palestine campaign is calling on the UK government to apologise, release classified historical archives, and consider reparations for its role in helping create Israel in Palestine, as well as its forced eviction of Palestinians from their lands — and its removal of their right to self-govern — between 1917 and 1948

The 34 marches that we've organised have not had a single arrest for violence towards Jewish people. The fear that's being generated is entirely misplaced Listen to our @JohnWRees on today's @BBCWorldatOne responding to calls for a moratorium on Palestine marches
