TURKS UPSET WITH INTERNATIONAL LAW🚨 These are straight facts from International Law on Exclusive Economic Zones for brainwashed Turks who got upset with the maps I posted. They keep hearing their politicians repeating that the entire Eastern Mediterranean “belongs” to Turkey, Aegean islands, Cyprus waters, gas fields, the works. Their parliament can vote whatever resolutions it wants declaring huge chunks of sea as Turkish but here’s the reality check no one in Ankara seems willing to give them: EEZs are not decided by national parliaments, flags on maps or “Blue Homeland” slogans, they are governed by international law, specifically the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea, the same rules every other coastal country on Earth follows. Let’s explain to these upset Turks how EEZs actually work around the world: ▪️A coastal state gets an Exclusive Economic Zone up to 200 nautical miles from its shoreline. ▪️In open oceans it’s simple. In crowded, semi-enclosed seas like the Mediterranean, neighboring countries negotiate boundaries or take the dispute to international courts. ▪️Islands get full EEZ rights, check UNCLOS Article 121. Big islands like Crete, Rhodes, Cyprus, generate their own 200NM zones. This is exactly how it works for Eastern Mediterranean EEZs according to international law, not Turkish maps, not Libyan-Turkish “memorandums”, not Ankara press releases. ▪️Greece’s EEZ extends logically around its islands. ▪️The Republic of Cyprus has its own clearly defined, internationally recognized EEZ. ▪️Egypt, Israel and Lebanon all have delimited their zones with Cyprus through proper bilateral agreements. ▪️Turkey gets its legitimate coastal strip but not the whole sea. ▪️Cyprus’ EEZ is 100% legitimate. The Republic of Cyprus is a full UN member state, recognized by every country on Earth except Turkey. Its EEZ has been formally agreed with Egypt, Lebanon and Israel. These are registered at the UN. Gas drilling licenses have been issued to major international energy companies under Cypriot law. The EU, United States, France, Italy, and others all treat Cyprus’s EEZ as valid. Turkish Parliament votes are legally worthless abroad. Their parliament can pass a thousand resolutions claiming half the Aegean, the entire Cyprus EEZ or whatever else, it changes nothing internationally. International law is not a Turkish domestic vote. Unilateral declarations have no legal effect on the sovereign rights of Greece, Cyprus, Egypt, Israel, Lebanon or any other state. That’s why no country recognizes Turkey’s maximalist claims. International law is not optional. It’s not “Greek propaganda.” It’s the same rulebook that gives Norway its North Sea wealth, gives France its zones around distant islands and protects small island nations everywhere. Turkey is free to stay outside UNCLOS if it wants but it cannot rewrite the rules for everyone else and expect the world to nod along. Time to stop the denial and learn how the rest of the planet actually draws maritime boundaries, not what Turkish politicians dictate to their citizens. EEZs in the Eastern Mediterranean aren’t a threat, they are geography and law. Respect it.

This is not a normal “dispute” between equal legal positions.
