Definitely no standard - most legacy brokers have APIs that are 10-20 years old, even if there are some modern brokers with modern APIs, like Alpaca or Tradier.
There have been several attempts to build an open finance type solution for execution like TradeIt, Realize and Snaptrade (Plaid doesn’t do execution), and we built one at IXily, but ultimately any web2 product fails at some point, because trust is required in a centralized party to maintain the connection, which requires the sharing of credentials/keys/tokens and financial information. Obviously this is not a good thing. Also the brokers are not very supportive and only a handful support oAuth or other modern connection methods.
The web2 API/connection model has been replaced by decentralized tools which can achieve the connection without the need to share sensitive details. See github.com/AlphaCaptureXY…

here; only with the management of assets on behalf of others) risks heading in the same direction. DeFi
alternatives to date are skeuomorphic2, designed almost exclusively on traditional, centralized models.
It is inevitable that such solutions will be regulated in some way, which will lead to a model that very
closely resembles the exact model that DeFi is trying to change.
