GM Cardano. It’s been a couple of weeks since I got back from Japan, and I’ve finally had time to go through my notes. I wanted to share what I learned from the communities I met in Fukuoka, Tokyo, and Nagoya—what stood out, and what I think it means for Cardano. In Fukuoka, I met with MUEN @slowhand4040 and @adamKDean. MUEN was an excellent host and introduced me to a grounded local group. The community there skews older and is focused on real-world utility. They’d like to see more young people from their region get involved—and better representation that reflects their local concerns. In Tokyo, I met with HIX @hix_coffeepool, @SIPO_Tokyo, and Yuta @yutazzz. The focus was governance—especially how dReps can stay accountable and connected to the people they represent. SIPO made a strong point: Japan has a long history of decentralisation—especially during its feudal era—and that history still shapes how trust and representation work today. If governance doesn’t account for that, it won’t land well locally. And @StratumOakmont @design_thyme @Padierfind @MinswapIntern @buxdabomb were all good company. In Nagoya, I travelled with @Dave__Dionisio and @therealdisasm, and was welcomed by Cardaw @Dow_shi1. The group there was smaller but committed. They talked about the need for more regional adoption, better exchange access, and a clearer role for voters through things like liquid democracy. Takeaways I only saw a part of Japan’s Cardano community, but some themes came through clearly: The demographic skews older, but there’s real interest in getting younger people involved. There’s a strong preference for real-world adoption over performative engagement. Many care deeply about Cardano’s mission—especially its work in Africa—and want to see more meaningful impact on the ground. Trust is personal. Governance needs to feel like a relationship, not a process. Language remains a barrier. If participation matters, translation and accessibility can’t be afterthoughts. After the trip, I initially referred to this as “the Japanese community.” @QuasarSure was right to push back. I didn’t meet the community—I met a part of it. This is just a write-up of who I spoke with, what I heard, and what I took from it. Thanks again to everyone who made time to meet.

@st8tik This really is impressive. Amazing work One question, how would revoke an endorsement? Is it a matter of just burning the NFT?

One thing about meme coins is that when they pop off, they can indirectly help fund projects in the ecosystem. Like the recent trip @adagotchi had to Hawaii for a project sprint with local farmers. @snek, you are awesome.
