Iran did not agree to the deal. Trump has a difficult decision to make: escalate or keep going the diplomacy route. It is obvious the diplomacy route is now a dead end. Iran won’t even fold one bit, and if time drags on, they will demand more. We will know soon enough.

23:54/ May 21 Based on operational developments and leaders' statements (Trump's announcement, the Israeli Cabinet meeting, US officials' statements regarding the return of the military option), we stand before a decisive moment. The most likely strategic projection is that the war in Iran will resume within the coming hours. This round of fighting (the third round) will not be like its predecessor; it will not be limited to skirmishes in the strait or limited naval targeting. Based on the prelude of the "Barakah" incident, the American focus will be set on harsh "strategic strikes" targeting energy infrastructure, and possibly Iranian nuclear facilities. Conversely, Iran and the Axis (especially in Lebanon) are on maximum alert. The Iranian response will include direct and intense targeting of American bases in the Persian Gulf states that facilitated the attack, along with a real activation and physical closure of the Strait of Hormuz. As for Hezbollah, it will expand its radius of fire to include the Israeli depth more broadly, plunging the entire region into the crucible of a devastating regional conflict with an unpredictable end.

@TheStalwart My default has been to ask dumb questions to Perplexity and smarter questions (or questions about my domain) to Claude. I started doing it out of embarrassment at asking the smart AI dumb questions but it looks like it was the right decision lol

The expert user, gets all kinds of stuff about Chinese smelters and backwardation and all this technical stuff, whereas the novice user basically gets some first order responses of what industries would be affected by higher prices.

I had two bots ask Opus 4.7 for analysis of what a major Chilean supply shock would mean for copper But before asking, I had warmup questions that exhibited different levels of sophistication. Despite both bots asking for max thoroughness, those warmups affected the final output

@teortaxesTex Actually sending kids to Harvard is a very third world thing to do The kids of political and business elites in India go to Harvard and Oxford/Cambridge. The smart kids go to IITs

One blackpilling thing about China bashers is they all assume children of top leaders should be able to just effortlessly enroll into Peking University or Tsinghua. Very third world mindset. What if Xi Mingze was only good for Harvard, paying full tuition?

@ShadesOfBlueAn1 Every time right before I visit India some random congressman introduces a bill to ban H1b or fast track GC for H1b which gets picked up by Indian news outlets as if it’s the law I’m stuck with explaining every uncle and aunty that I won’t get deported or get my GC soon

Rep. Andy Ogles@RepOgles

Excited to announce that my 83-page ASSIMILATION Act has been introduced. Months of labor were undertaken by my staff, @SenTuberville and myself in order to GUT the Hart-Celler Act of 1965, as well as scrap provisions of the Immigration Act of the 1990s. The goal of this bill is simple: end replacement migration and ensure American cultural cohesion. This bill will end the H-1B scam, ensure migrants NEVER become a public charge, and make America look like America again. FYI, net immigration immediately decreases by 85% under this bill. Some other things it does: • National Interest Standard • Stringent Character Tests • Mandatory E-Verify • Ends Chain Migration • Ends Diversity Lottery • GUTS Birthright Citizenship • WAY Tougher Asylum Standards • Stronger Public Charge Rules • 10 Year Citizenship Requirement • English & American Civics PROFICIENCY

It’s 4:45 and I’m in a Robotaxi in downtown Austin during peak rush hour traffic. Terrific handling of complex merges, construction lane closures, hand signaling from police officer, and dense traffic. Earlier today Robotaxi pulled off a three point turn after pickup as forward motion was blocked by tow truck picking up a car in a tight lot. Overall incredibly impressed by decision making in this current model

Man! Look at these quotes from today's NFIB Small Business Optimism Index. There are all kinds of signs out there that not only is inflation warm or hot, but the labor market is re-accelerating and/or tight. Wrote about it in the newsletter: bloomberg.com/news/newslette…

People should be asking why Elon did not use the Colossus 1 compute capacity for Robotaxi and Optimus and instead just sold it to Anthropic #TSLAQ

@pitdesi @DKThomp Why wouldn’t he use Colossus 1 to train Robotaxis ? As great as FSD is, I think it’s because he knows there is no path to unsupervised Robotaxis with his current tech stack

I don’t think I’ve seen this take before but I like it. Musk has been world-leading at compressing money, resources, and time to make “known/hard” things at scale—make an electric car, make batteries, make a cheaper bigger rocket, all of which already existed but worse, at less scale, or more expensively —but he’s less than world-leading at cracking open breakthroughs in more unknown spaces. So it would make sense that XAI is lagging the frontier labs on new AI agents, but also that he’d have built a neocloud to power those models once they run short of compute
rohit@krishnanrohit

Also, fwiw, I pointed this out 4 years ago. That Elon's unique talent is suited better to some things than others. Getting a neocloud up and running is a known but hard thing to do, getting a model to be as good as the frontier labs is an unknown and hard thing to do. strangeloopcanon.com/p/on-thinkers-…
