I’ve really tried with Joni Mitchell. She’s incredibly talented and I can see why people love her so much. But she just doesn’t do it for me. Maybe it’s because I never pay attention to lyrics.

Is there a media ban? Must everyone on tv say its ok for the police to kick a mentally unwell man in the head on the ground why are even so called left wing voices saying they don't have a veiw on police brutally? Would they hold the same veiw if it was there family? #JeremyVine

When you are being tasered, all of your muscles contract, so he would have involuntarily held onto the knife. The police officer is 100% at fault, a suspect cannot be both tasered and have full control of his body. #GoldersGreen

Dr. Dr. P: "No men. No exceptions".
@UniofOxford Women at their place of study and at work should not have to tolerate this behaviour. This is the perverse, modern equivalent of having a pornographic, pin-up calendar on the wall, or a Page 3 girl. We stopped that. We should stop this.

We've all rightly been outraged at the way the disability charity @scope treated @jan_murray's choir by dropping them from performing at Sunday's London Marathon and then (presumably having sought legal advice) reinstated them in *very* bad grace. It's a scandal that cancellations like this for legally-held beliefs are still happening. However, I think many people have forgotten what Scope is supposed to do and what implications this attitude from its leadership has for the (actually) most vulnerable people in society. Scope is a disability charity. Its remit is to campaign and lobby on behalf of disabled people, to provide information, advice and support when they need it and to create opportunities for disabled people. How can disabled people trust Scope to have our interests at heart when it has demonstrated such intolerance for sex realist views? In particular, how can disabled women who need same-sex care trust Scope to advocate on their behalf, provide them with accurate and up to date information and advice on this subject and to support them - and give them a voice - when they need it most? Disabled people - especially women - who need care face extreme risk from those who are supposed to provide it. Disabled women are physically and sexually assaulted by male carers at a sickening rate. Same-sex intimate care for disabled women who require it is an urgent priority. But the major disability charities, including Scope, do not agree. They've been silent on the matter for years. They're silent because they've pulled a Stonewall; they know they'll lose donations if they work in the interests of the people who need them most. And yet they hoover up donations from brilliant, well-meaning people who don't know this. So can everyone who has been so brilliantly vocal in support of Jan's choir please, please also consider contacting Scope to ask them about their policy regarding same-sex intimate care for disabled women? Could you ask them what they do and plan to do to lobby for same-sex care, to support disabled women who need it and to make the voices of those women heard? Thank you so much. @hen10freeman @sharrond62 @jan_murray @WomensRightsNet @BevJacksonAuth @Glinner

I don’t really see how John McLachlan of @scope could have behaved any worse. First he disinvites a choir because of two anonymous objections to a member’s lawful views. Then he gets legal advice - and dozens of furious responses - and realizes Scope is in legal jeopardy. So he then reinvites the choir to avoid getting sued but does so in the most graceless possible way. How dare he describe gender-critical views as “highly polarizing” and “deeply upsetting and alienating” to some “valued members” and offer to “support anyone who has been affected”! You know who has been affected? The choir members who have been practicing for ages and looking forward to singing at this event. To support charities - which is what they do. I don’t know whether they will still feel like singing after this insulting behaviour. Nor do I know if they still have grounds to sue. All I know is that John McLachlan is a contemptible individual and that gender identity doctrine is one of the worst censorship cults that has ever afflicted the culture sector.

🚨 UPDATE: Scope has reversed its decision and reinstated my choir Pleased to say Scope has now reinstated the invitation for my choir to perform at the London Marathon tomorrow. While this is a win, the distress and uncertainty caused by this situation has taken its toll. At present, only one fellow choir member has said they feel comfortable performing tomorrow. Understandably so. In a statement published on their website this evening, they’ve confirmed the choir is not political - and never was. They also acknowledge that my gender-critical beliefs, cited as the reason for dropping us, are lawful -and that those views are mine and separate from the choir as a whole. All of which we knew all along. However, they go on to describe gender-critical views as “highly polarising” and potentially “deeply upsetting and alienating” - language and ideological framing that echoes previous public commentary that presented my lawful, mainstream views as extreme. While this is a win, the distress and uncertainty caused by this situation has taken its toll. At present, only one fellow choir member has said they feel comfortable performing tomorrow. We are now considering our options.

When Sarah Barratt was threatened with rape by 3 men while poolside at the @MarriottIntl in Qatar, her husband Craig complained to the front desk, and they were told the men hd been kicked out. It was a lie. Days later, coming off the elevator, the Barratts encountered the men again. Craig was furious, and posted a negative review on TripAdvisor. Craig is a businessman who operates in the Middle East, and when he next returned to Qatar, he was arrested, detained, fined, and deported, having been convicted in absentia of damaging the Marriott’s reputation. Worse, his inability to work in Qatar has destroyed his financial security. He and his wife are selling possessions online, and are considering selling their home. Marriott International, a Western company, used the draconian laws restricting speech in Qatar in order to have Craig Barratt punished for leaving a negative review on TripAdvisor - a review that was fully justified and supported by the facts. This is appalling behavior on their part, and I sincerely hope that this story will be circulated as widely as possible. All Marriott had to do was apologize. Instead, they destroyed a guest’s life for daring to complain about having been lied to, and about having been made unsafe on Marriott property by the actions of Marriott staff. thetimes.com/article/447b8e…

My choir - which specialises in singing at charity running events - has been dropped from Sunday's London Marathon. Because I don't believe people can change sex - and said so publicly. We were dropped by the disability charity Scope - who we've supported for the past two years - on the basis of two anonymous complaints. About MY gender critical beliefs. So not only am I being discriminated against due to my lawfully held views - so are other people. After months of preparation ... disappointed is not the word. Suffice to say, if there are any organisations out there who are happy to welcome volunteers with lawfully held beliefs on sex and gender, we'd love to be your 'cheer squad' at Sunday's London Marathon. Our running themed 'set list' is always a hit with runners and we bring fun, enthusiasm and props in spades (hence the 'Eye Of The Tiger' mask). We'd love to help support runners raise money for good causes at this year's London Marathon - as we have done in previous years.
