@CP24 My company has many entry level openings that constantly cannot get filled (private sector) and our competitors are having same issue where they have openings but can’t get it filled. People want high paying jobs and refuse to do the lower pay ones…that’s the jobless rate

@CityNewsTO My mortgage monthly payment has gone up by close to $1500-$1800 already now, grocery is up another few hundred dollars for a family of 4…..so what is the government’s plan on helping middle class earn extra $2K+ income net per month?

At least one economist is expecting the central bank to not only raise interest rates, but to signal that even more rate hikes may come if the economy doesn't slow down sufficiently. toronto.citynews.ca/2023/07/09/boc…

@pmc8387 @ColinDMello Everyone Ive spoken to EA's, IT, Library Tech, clerical and custodial are all voting yes. Most can't afford to be on strike. We agree its not great but the best we will see, & further risk of strikes not worth the losses that will never be regained! Job security for 4 more years!

@ColinDMello Union lost the public! They should have put the needed supports out front instead of the wage issue. Once wages were found to be inaccurate and based mainly on part time, the public started retracting support. The union failed members, because of their own greed!

@guelphws @CP24 You don’t LOST salary bc there’s no pay raise!!!!! Many companies freeze wages when they company is not performing well. And inflation is off the chart now. I challenge you to name 5 private companies that actually give raises to keep up with inflation.

@CP24 What about the 11.7% they lost? What about the ~7% inflation this year? What about inflation over the next four years? 4% seems like a lot until it doesn’t touch inflation. The lowest paid workers get 4.2% what about the highest paid? Are they pooched again?

@CP24 They legislated 1% for every other civil servant. Ontario has only increased public servants salary 8% in the past 12 years. 4 years at 0%, 8 years at 1% each.

@CP24 Look…if you think others have such better salary, then quit and find another job… don’t give me that “I don’t quit bc I care for kids” crap. If someone comes offer you 100K, you will quit right away!!! But you don’t quit bc you KNOW it’s not easy to find elsewhere

@Sflecce @Sflecce Thank you for the offer of free daycare, but can we opt for a fixed amount per day instead so we can choose the daycare of our choice?

@susanrh11 Lecce does not have money…it’s not his money it ours (tax payers) .EA should get more and the deal currently on the table gives them this . Cupe leadership is dragging them through the mud . The workers want the deal an Walton is an ass (I don’t like Ford but Walton is worse)

Despite flatlined student enrolment: ✔️50% increase in education workers since 2002 ✔️Nearly 7,000 additional education workers hired since we took office in 2018 None of this matters unless kids are in class.

@DrGorfinkel Backlog in cytology in All labs are now 3-4 months!!!! There’s no cytotechs and those currently working are leaving the position so there’s really no solution. It takes 1.5 years of Post-graduate education to train a cytotech. So there is no solution anytime soon.

My patient asked about her Pap smear results from her test 2 weeks ago. Not there. So we contacted Dynacare Labs. They told us there's a TWO-MONTH backlog on cytology reports. 2 months ....Hope it's normal.

CUPE says to parents: the 55,000 members is "grateful for your support." (Not sure how much parents are going to support additional strike action -- some polling indicated it could tip over) #onpoli

@CTVToronto @fordnation Is there a way to deem teachers and education support staff as “essential” just like nurses and doctors so they CANNOT go on strike?? The frequencies of these negotiables is ridiculous!
