A 19.5 BILLION DOLLAR BUDGET!!?? Still no end to poverty, no end to homelessness, rapid rehousing insolvent, NO Universal Basic Income for seniors and others, no investment in 13,000 health jobs needed, but we got more housing production money for those that can't afford it!! Ha!

The Washington Post article on Opioids: washingtonpost.com/business/2022/… highlights the Sackler family's culpability in causing death to hundreds of thousands of families each year. In DC opioid deaths are DOUBLE the # of homicides. I am working with stakeholders and ANC's on solutions.

Invited to Mayor's Friday groundbreaking at Kenilworth 166. Can't be there, I'm hosting a meeting on opioids. But...48 "affordable" units @50% AMI? Most of Ward7 or 8 can't even afford THAT! Family incomes have only risen 10% (W7) and 12% (W8) in last 20 YEARS! Ward 6 & 2- 325%!

Testified today about opioids and the need for a healthcare workforce for Ward 7 & 8 residents. There will be 13,000 healthcare jobs needed over the next 5 years--in long term care, home health aides and certified nursing assistants. Apprenticeships can start in high school.
