NEWS: D.C. says that starting on May 12 it will implement a wait list for the child care subsidy program, which currently helps 7,500 kids from low-income families pay for child care. City officials say without it, enrollment growth will blow the program's $96 million budget.

@chenderson Actually in the forum @EmpowerEdDC co-hosted with @Ward7EdCouncil and C4DC we asked directly about what they would be looking for in hiring education agency leaders and how they would hire for these roles. We asked in our questionnaire as well! Agree that it's critical.

If I could vote in the mayoral primary, I would be asking candidates about talent.
What qualities would they look for in a City Administrator? Budget Director?
Will they recruit directors from outside DC?
Who manages the day-to-day ops of city services & agencies is crucial.

A full house here in Ward 7 for a mayoral education forum. The spiciest question, as ever, is on mayoral control: @Janeese4DC says she’s for reforms (like an independent OSSE) while @goodweather4dc says he’d be willing to “give up” control of schools. No clear answer from VO.

I am in agreement with the style of campaigning (& organizing) mentioned in the screenshot. Apparently @kenyanmcduffie isn't listening to the advise he was given - declining every community forum in every ward & neighborhood in DC smh. @cuneytdil Source: axios.com/local/washingt…

We should be able to see the interconnectedness of these things; see the whole & not just the parts.

@jeremiah4dc @kenyanmcduffie @cuneytdil I liked Adrian Fenty; he was a pretty good retail politician. However, I think Kenyan McDuffie has run five political campaigns; he lost only one. He won a citywide race against a very strong competitor, after being kicked off the ballot for the AG's contest.
