@NicoleH63691311 Never would of thought that bean bags could be this useful/versatile in the classroom! Something most schools have plenty of, we may as well use them for beneficial reasons!!

Have you heard of the 24 hour movement guidelines for children and young people? They provide an explicit criteria to keep children fit and healthy! Check this out #uonteach #educ4750 #SDG3 #npa517" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">www1.health.gov.au/internet/main/…

@MissCary24 I have seen this initiative first hand in schools and it is great! The kids are always active and there is minimal waiting time for activities/games which is awesome!!

Check out this amazing program ran in schools to promote quality physical activity in young children. Such a great program that ensure our students are getting the 60 minutes of physical activity each day. #UoNTeach #Educ4750 fit4kids.org.au

@Paige_Gabriel1 This can be so fun for children to do! They become so much more engaged when they are participating in hands on physical activities and they absorb the information so much easier!!

@Paige_Gabriel1 @MissBrowningAU Such a simple task but so effective!! This could easily be added into a rotation for literacy or maths, allowing students to be mindful among all the other activities they are to complete.

@NicoleH63691311 Bucket fillers are so important!! We need to ensure we fill each others buckets, not dip into them. An activity you could do is have each child to make their own mini bucket, allowing for other students in their room to fill it!! A much more hands on approach...

I’ve never heard of this idea before. I love that the activities are all related to a children’s picture book. This would be especially effective for lower primary students
Miss Cary@MissCary24

Have you used bucket fillers in your classroom? It's such a great opportunity to spread #kindness throughout your classroom. Check out @WeAreTeachers website for some amazing activities which explore the concept of bucket filling. #UoNTeach #educ4750 weareteachers.com/bucket-filler-…

@NicoleH63691311 Very important that we encourage children to make healthy eating habits. When I get my own classroom, I will bring in fruits and veggies for those students who forgot their crunch and sip, or those who do not bring anything.

@NicoleH63691311 This is a great idea, it is so helpful to use tools like Just Dance for brain breaks during lessons. Another great tool that is awesome in the classroom is @GoNoodle!

Just dance YouTube videos have always been popular when I’ve been in the classroom. These are especially great for students in stages 2 and 3 as it focuses on more modern dancing. Have you used any dancing videos with your class? #UoNTeach #Educ4750 #SDG3 youtu.be/a1zQ1xOjZnk

@Paige_Gabriel1 This is awesome! Definitely something I will be looking into including in my unit. This can help students learn how to care for veggies virtually, then hopefully they can then use some of the online skills they’ve learnt in planting their own veggies!!

@SophieDryden5 @Seesaw Couldn’t agree more! I would use seesaw in a literacy or maths rotation, having kids take a picture of their work then, 1) the teacher can see it & 2) parents are able to see too! It’s a great communication tool!!

@GoNoodle is such a fun & engaging way for children to be active at school. It can be used positively as a reward after completing a task, or just incorporated into day to day school. Often the students don’t even realise they’re being active! #sdg3 #uonteach #educ4750

Any other teachers limited for time to incorporate physical activity in your classroom? GoNoodle is a great way to give students a quick burst of physical activity - getting them up, moving and becoming more mindful. #SDG3 #EDUC4750 #UoNTeach gonoodle.com

@PettetRenee Love this! Students are often motivated knowing they get to do a go noodle after they complete an activity. This also is beneficial as they are being active during this time too!

@SophieDryden5 So important! We need to ensure there are more fruits & veggies available at places such as sporting clubs canteen. When children see bad foods sold/available there, they assume they’re good for them. This increases the chances of parents bribing their kids with sugary snacks.

Why is it so important to educate children on unhealthy advertising? This resource explains why! Incorporating this issue into your unit of work has many opportunities for community interaction, cross KLA integration and real-world learning! #brandsoffourkids #UoNTeach #educ4750

@MissCary24 An issue I’ve came across at school is children wanting to eat foods like roll ups during this time, because they say “strawberry”. We need to teach them that just because some things say a fruit name, it doesn’t mean that they are actually fruit & have health benefits. Thoughts?

What a great initiative used in schools to increase students intake of fruit and vegetables. Approx 4.4% of children reach the daily recommended intake of 5 vegetables per day! Do you know of other initiatives that promote healthy lifestyles for children. #UoNTeach #Educ4750

@MissCary24 Could not agree more! We can further explore the findings in the books by asking students why they think the characters may be feeling a certain way, as well as how they can deal with the situation.

@Paige_Gabriel1 Could not agree more! So important all children are included and feel included! We must make sure our classroom environments are supportive and that children want to come to school. School is often one of the only places children feel safe.

I agree! #PhysicaActivity is vital for good #mentalhealth and #wellbeing. Educators MUST promote the importance of being active for both short-term and long-term health to their students. So get started today with getting your students moving their bodies!!! #UoNteach #STG3

@HoskingMiss I agree! This helps students have the WANT to participate, not feeling like they HAVE to! Having active children in our classrooms is so beneficial for everyone! And participating in things like little athletics helps students be outside more and away from their screens!!

#Educators and #parents should encourage young children to take part in days like this to show them how fun and enjoyable sport can be, essentially encouraging them to join up for Little Athletics and other sporting teams in the community! #UoNteach #std3

Thanks for sharing @HoskingMiss! Encouraging students and parents to engage in this, broadens their ability to interact with other children, as well as additional exercise out of school. I find this so important! #Educ4750 #uon #SDG3
