Excellent piece by @rjhauman. Cheap labor serves as a release valve on the pressure that would otherwise drive firms to invest in productivity enhancing tech. This dynamic is clearest in agriculture, where foreign — often illegal — labor has been used as a crutch.

This the conversation we need to be having whenever agriculture and labor are discussed in the same sentence.

I wrote about how too many people were celebrating the decline in data center projects this year in @AmericanIntel_. It comes from a fundamental misunderstanding of why and how Americans benefit from infrastructure expansion.
