I loved writing this piece for Washington Examiner's series on the future of conservatism. Conservatives (and all Americans) must embrace personal responsibility and individual agency and reject the voices telling them they are victims.

This inflation surge isn't merely "transitory." The Iranian stranglehold on energy via the Strait spiked energy costs. But inflation already was trending higher. April PPI hit 6.0% year-over-year; CPI hit 3.8%. No surprise considering government spending & money supply both jumped 5% as well.

🚨New CPI and PPI Inflation Reports for April 📈Overall consumer prices UP 3.8% 📈 Energy prices UP 17.9% 📈 Intermediate PPI for unprocessed goods UP 4.1% 📈 Intermediate PPI for processed goods UP 2.7% ⚡️Energy drove 40% of the CPI spike This shows that inflation is accelerating - largely due to a temporary spike in energy prices as well and long-run pressure from the federal deficit. While intermediate prices (prices businesses pay each other along the production chain) are up, producers in the middle of the production chain are being squeezed and eating much of the cost increases themselves.

In Callais, SCOTUS reaffirmed a basic constitutional principle: race cannot be the dominant factor in drawing congressional districts. The Court upheld the Constitution and made clear that the Voting Rights Act was meant to stop racial discrimination. A Christian small business owner loses sleep over tariffs, goes to Washington to plead her case, and gets told “nothing we can do.” Apple can easily afford to hire lobbyists and gets an exemption. Conservatives should be the first to call this out — trade policy that concentrates power and rewards the well connected isn’t a win, no matter who’s in charge.
