We have a paradox in congress and in the political leadership of most cities and states. One party has few principles to lead and govern for the best of its actual citizenry. And the other party has too few with principles with which to hold the first accountable.

Make no mistake, whether the facts of these cases are being clearly presented or not, I can sympathize with these victims and their families, but Republicans DO NOT. Because these victims are just political props to them, opportunities to sell a narrative. A narrative that paints with broad strokes. Minorities, immigrants, marginalized groups, and even protestors critical of Trump and his policies are frequently lumped in with outliers and individuals involved in isolated incidents. Republicans politicize the traumas and/or deaths of victims to stigmatize entire communities of people. They hold every immigrant responsible for the actions of one. They characterize all immigrants as "murderers, rapists and criminals." Ask yourself why out of the many crimes that are committed every day, Republicans choose to fixate only on the crimes of a select group. Meanwhile, according to reliable data—immigrants are not committing crimes at a greater rate than native born Americans. One study found that undocumented immigrants in particular had "substantially lower crime rates than native-born citizens and legal immigrants across a range of felony offenses.” The facts also show that immigrants are not smuggling large quantities of fentanyl into the US. Most seizures are happening at ports of entry, and these drugs are primarily being trafficked in by US citizens. Also, there is no evidence that undocumented immigrants are voting in our elections in any conceivable material way. It is so exceedingly rare that the number of noncitizens voting in our elections might as well be ZERO. Even the most GENEROUS of studies shows that the figure is around TEN THOUSANDTHS of a percent. Yes, one study revealed that number to be 0.0001%. Mind you this was 30 SUSPECTED (not verified) cases out of 23.5 MILLION. All research on the matter, even from conservative think tanks, points to the same foregone conclusion. That undocumented immigrants have absolutely, unequivocally NO impact on our elections. You know what does impact our elections? And to a considerable, OUTCOME CHANGING extent? WIDESPREAD, Republican backed voter suppression and election subversion efforts. This isn't speculation. It's FACT. And here's what's really going to blow the MAGA hivemind—millions of immigrants, undocumented or otherwise, pay SIGNIFICANT taxes. They pay BILLIONS in taxes into programs like Social Security and Medicare—programs that they cannot access. These taxes directly fund social programs. In other words, while immigrants help to pay for public benefits, they are also prohibited from receiving any coverage or aid of their own. Hell, in some states, immigrants pay more taxes than the top 1% of households. Studies show that immigrants pay more in taxes than they'll ever receive back from the government. Research also shows that both undocumented and legal immigrants alike contribute trillions of dollars to our GDP and play a crucial role in helping to sustain and grow our economy. Even so, Republicans unanimously decided to cut programs like Medicaid and deprive millions of Americans of their access to healthcare under the guise of some bullshit, xenophobic narrative about immigrants stealing tax dollars. A tired narrative that they've relied on so often in the past. These claims are culture war fuel, nothing else. Claims that become the basis for their "great replacement" and election fraud conspiracy theories. Disinformation that goes a long way in legitimizing their fears and their grievances, their hatred and contempt for immigrants and foreigners, minorities and marginalized communities—even for anyone subjectively deemed a "left-wing "agitator." Moreover, it helps them rationalize to themselves why excessive and unconstitutional national security measures are warranted. Why the federal government's authoritarian occupation of US cities is necessary to quell the "immigrant invasion" or the radical left "rebellion."

@Ahkilleux @BasilTheGreat I would wager - having literally been one myself - that millions of commuters run for and near trains every work day. The d-bag who scared her should at least have tried to help her up off the tracks. Hard to say as the vid ends.

I don't understand why those girls are acting that oblivious to the situation. I mean what happened, it's disgusting. But there is an extreme lack of awareness on part of the girls being attacked. Don't run near a train. That's just common sense and basic instinct for most adults. So these girls are lacking basic spatial awareness, even before you get to the obviously hostile attackers that they are not properly addressing. There were several obvious attempts by the attsckerd to appear innocent while attacking the girls walking by. But it happened so many times and no one appeared to notice. Even the girls. Even the girls who got hit. Maybe they assumed it was unintentional. Idk it's a really weird scene. Just too many successfully executed "unintentional" strikes in such a short time. And no one responds. I'm not sure it could even be so well executed if intentional. But the population needs to be hardened. Thede girls were never given any fight training. They don't know how to stand or walk in a hostile environment. They have never been tought to respect dangerous areas when it comes to running. So they were neglected. In how they were raised. Walk on the side furthest the train. Slow down or stop to hold your ground against oncommers who are not giving you space. Trying to continue running to the tain when there is someone obviously blocking you and then taking the train side path is stupid. Stand ground. Walk in groups. People need to not ignore their surroundings. But I hope every single attacker does or did jail time. They deserve worse. Far worse. Because people like that have no empathy and won't change. But my guess is they walked without so much as a stern look though. Just s disgusting sequence of events. One I wish I didn't have to see. I hope the girl got out okay. I've seen cases where they were not so lucky.

I just had the strangest conversation with someone I’ve known for years. I said that Muslims were known to attack and destroy Christians and Jews, or others who do not believe in Islam. I said I don’t understand why the good Muslims don’t stand up and condemn the bad Muslims. And she said well, Christians have guns —then I said I don’t understand what you’re trying to say here I’ve carried a gun for years and I’ve never harmed anyone. I carry for self-defense not for offense. I don’t carry a gun to go around harming people who don’t believe what I do or for living a lifestyle that I don’t. Can someone explain to me what I missed here because I really don’t understand her analogy?

MSNBC’s Maria Teresa claims “When people see Barack Obama, they remember a time in America where there was unity. They remember a time when there was calm, when there was opportunity for their families.” She contrasted Obama’s tone with Republicans, adding: “The contrast between the hate that the Republicans on the MAGA side keep pushing, and someone who is calm and collected saying, we don’t have to be this way.”

I said this once before and so many of you agreed with me... to this day my husband will not watch any movie with Jane Fonda in it. Does everyone know why or have her traitorous actions been forgotten? Here is a photo where she is sitting with North Vietnamese soldiers on a gun that was used to shoot down American planes while our soldiers remained in captivity.

it hasn't sunk in for most people. we already live in a post-scarcity society. UBI is already here. basic package: disability, medicaid, food stamps etc bonus package: literally getting paid for staying at home and hanging out with your relatives extra bonus: if you are willing to commit fraud, pretend your kids are autistic and get paid for that. get paid for watching your neighbor's kid. pretend you are taking care of your grandma. fake hospice clinic. fake rehab clinic. fake therapy clinic. giga bonus: during a time of crisis take advantage of PPP or CARES and open a fake business and get paid for existing people are shocked when they learn that defense is the FIFTH largest line item in the budget. ahead of defense: social security ($1.6T), interest on debt ($1.1T) medicare ($1T), medicaid + ACA ($1T), AND THEN defense ($0.9T) complain about defense all you like, but healthcare fraud is a way bigger factor. hundreds of billions per year. this is only going to get worse, because the fraud is a structural part of the system – payouts to client groups in exchange for votes (normally D). in the US, only 47% of the population actually works (fully 14% of the population is working age and does not work). retirees are 18% and children 22%. the system I described above subsidizes 50m non-working people absolute minimum, but really it's far more because people that are paid to stay home and take care of their relatives are considered "workers" of that 47% of "actual workers" maybe one third does real work, the rest are shuffling papers around or doing fake email jobs. so you have, rough math, 50 million actual workers supporting 300 million dependents. that's the nature of the economy today. it will only accelerate. eventually you will have 10 million using AI tools to do all the work and 340 million dependents. the reason no one roots out the fraud is because it's the system that keeps our extremely fragile polity intact. the fraud is the UBI. the purpose of the system is what it does. of course, it's a deeply unfair system, because you are allowed to commit fraud if you are a politically protected client group of the democrats. DOGE was killed faster than any government program ever, because it attempted to root out the fraud. if you are honest and unwilling to commit fraud, you are a huge loser in this system. your neighbor will have their mortgage subsidized by some government program. they will get favorable SBA loans due to DEI. they will open a fake hospice or autism clinic. they will get paid for taking care of their neighbor's kid and vice versa. the primary skill in the labor market is learning how to extract money from state and federal government programs, not gaining skills or making yourself employable. if you are just trying to work an ordinary wagie job you are a huge sucker. you are paying 40-50% effective all in taxes to everyone else who is a net taker. the sad part is because AI is such a substantial productivity boost, it will actually keep this system going for a while longer, and maybe in perpetuity. AI boosts the 15% of the population that is actually productive so much that the remaining 85% can coast by. no one in charge will change this because they can't think of anything else. the political costs of a real UBI program are too great and we don't have the money for it anyway. so we will keep this covert fraud-based UBI program running indefinitely. unfortunately, if you are an honest wagie, you lose.

1) Yes and No. He would have emphasized mass deportations, but his plan would have been strong and consistent, and ICE would have been better trained and better led. 2) Yes and No. He would have had a consistent plan to bring Iran to the table working with our allies to produce an agreement stronger than the one Obama negotiated. If that failed, he would have consulted with Congress prior to undertaking any military action. 3) Yes and No. His policies would have been conservative, not socialist, and his governing style would be form but consultative, not dictatorial, so there would be far less rage directed at him. But there are always some who would oppose him, although I doubt they would use the No More Kings sobriquet.

Serious question, if Ron DeSantis had become president, would he: 1) have had a similar approach with ICE and the approach to ending illegal immigration? 2) have gone after Iran in a similar fashion? 3) have had millions of morons filling the streets with “No Kings” protests?
