The Atlanta Fire Rescue Department is conducting additional testing of our air quality in Atlanta. We continue to await additional health guidance from the Georgia Department of Public Health. Visit dph.georgia.gov for health-related information.

Rockdale County has issued a new shelter in place order for Rockdale County. The Georgia Poison Center has created a hotline for calls relating to symptoms.

We will continue to seek guidance and updates from county and state health agencies as well as GEMA, EPD, EPA, and AFRD.

As we have stated this morning, we know that people are concerned so you can take additional precautions such as staying indoors with windows closed if you have medical conditions or other health concerns.

Take note of the message that has gone out by GEMA (Georgia Emergency Management Agency) regarding the air quality after the lab fire in Conyers, Rockdale County, Georgia.

He is not just a Hall of Famer—he is irreplaceable. My prayers are with his family and loved ones.

I am grateful for the opportunity to visit with him and his wife Rose at their home last month and express the gratitude and pride Atlantans and millions worldwide held for such a truly good man.

Like many across the globe, my heart is heavy with the loss of Atlanta Hawks legend and humanitarian Dikembe Mutombo.

At this time, no warnings or advisories have been issued. We will continue to coordinate with EPA and EPD and all updates will be posted on our social channels. If you have concerns stay inside, close windows and doors, and turn off ventilation systems.

The Atlanta Fire Rescue Department and the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International airport are conducting air quality control checks.

We are aware of the incident in Conyers, Georgia and are working diligently to ensure the safety of those in and around Atlanta.

@AnthonyMKreis @DougShipmanATL @AmirForATL We have been made aware. Atlanta Fire Rescue is going out with detectors to various spots east to see what is in the air. The assumption is a change of the wind direction blowing some of the Conyers fire residuals our way. We will push out messaging as we get more info.
