Rufus had his first cystic fibrosis clinic of the year yesterday. He's in the 75th centile for weight, I remember he was 9th when discharged! He is keeping overgrowth antibiotics for a bit longer, but his chest sounded clear. So fingers crossed his cough swab comes back clear 🤞

Violet Jessop was one of the luckiest or unluckiest ladies in history, depending on your point of view. In any case, her story is undoubtedly one of the most fascinating ones you'll ever read. At the age of 21, Jessop started her work as a stewardess on ocean ships in 1908 aboard the Orinoco. When she boarded the HMS Olympic, one of the three Olympic-class cruisers built by the company, in 1910, she made her debut with the White Star Line. A year later, as Jessop continued to labor on board, the ship struck the British warship HMS Hawke as it was navigating a small strait. Despite the fact that the contact caused damage to both ships, none of them was entirely destroyed, and no one died. Violet worked on the sister ship of the Olympic, the RMS Titanic, a White Star Line ship, while the Olympic was being repaired. When the Titanic hit an iceberg and sank, Jessop was on board, but he managed to find a lifeboat and escaped. Unfazed by her involvement in these two maritime mishaps, Jessop went on to work as a Red Cross waitress on the HMHS Britannic during World War I. They hit a German mine in the Aegean Sea and sank, having been transformed into a hospital ship that was carrying wounded men to the United Kingdom. Jessop and numerous other passengers nearly got dragged into the ship's propeller blades while fleeing on a lifeboat, but they managed to escape, solidifying her status as "Miss Unsinkable." In Titanic Survivor: The Newly Discovered Memoirs of Violet Jessop who Survived Both the Titanic and Britannic Disasters, she would later narrate her terrifying experience.

Oscar Pistorius is a former Paralympic sprinter from South Africa. He was the 10th athlete to compete at both the Paralympic Games and Olympic Games. In the early morning of Thursday, 14 February 2013, Pistorius shot and killed Reeva Steenkamp at his home in Pretoria. Pistorius admitted that he shot Steenkamp four times, causing her death, but claimed he mistook her for a possible intruder. Pistorius was eventually sentenced to 13 years and five months in prison for the chilling crime. Earlier this year, Pistorius was denied parole but is eligible to apply again in August 2024,
