@gdibner What they are doing isn’t necessarily bad. Major AI companies like OpenAI and Anthropic have become more like infrastructure providers, like AWS. The key question is whether they're being utilised to provide genuine incremental value beyond the infrastructure itself.

An interesting attempt to analyze what's really going on at some of these thin-wrapper companies.
"I monitored network traffic, decompiled code, and traced API calls for 200 funded AI startups. 73% are running third-party APIs with extra steps. OpenAI dominates, Claude is everywhere, and the gap between marketing and reality is staggering."

@SahilBloom I call it ‘zombie mode’ - you turn off a bunch of faculties and desires, and get your head down.

The weirdest time of my life was when I sold my company.
I remember signing the DocuSign, Amazon corp dev called to congratulate me.
At that moment, I felt nothing. Total void. Zero excitement, even though I had just become rich.
I was stunned, hearing a low-pitched background noise, like I’d been hit hard on the head, but without the pain. The world suddenly felt empty.
That day, I lost my sense of purpose. My exit day was the worst day of my founder journey.
I’ll never forget that feeling. I lost my baby.
I'm curious how other founders felt after getting acquired?

@JackPittBrooke Thought Spence was right up there, and get the sense he’ll just get better and better in this system

@InvertTheWing Reminded me of when he did the same to Martinelli before he joined Spurs

@pokeefe1 This must be the best group of young players anywhere right now

@mcuban A lot of you overlooking the fact that the hardware you say robots won’t be able to interact with will change to perfectly interface with robots, e.g. boilers with onboard computers and modular construction.

Which of these jobs, won’t be done by a robot within 25 years or sooner ? :
Electrician, plumber, carpenter, forklift operator, etc ?
All the jobs everyone wants you to skip college and train for.
Answer: None of them
If you can’t use your brain to process and interpret knowledge, you are fucked. You will spend your days arguing to increase the federal hourly robot tax that supports your minimal UBI, that barely covers any of your expenses.

@danbarker I’m more concerned by the medium spicy rating. Blasphemy.

@rorysutherland Let’s not overcomplicate - vanilla, cherry, caramel, anise, pepper.

@soully Exactly. Cash handling costs (counting cash, depositing, cash register mgt) cost retailers about 1.5% of their income. So if they can get their card fees below that then they make a huge amount of money for doing not a lot.

@YidVids It’s more complicated than emotions allow. There’s an est. 4m globally classed as intersex. Do we deny them access to professional sports? What about basketball players that are giant due to gene defects? I’m not saying it’s fair, I’m saying it needs more thought and less emotion

@LeeMcQueen Any of those @LeeMcQueen that you’d have kept if it were your call?
