If you ever get the opportunity to do some first aid training take it. I had to use my training today as I was on the way for a coffee in town. Atleast put the Red Cross app on your phone. It may help you to help others when they need it most. #RedCross redcross.org.uk/first-aid/firs…

@DanNeidle @DanNeidle It is great to highlight this underlying issue. At the smae time the real unsolved challenge is that democratic possesses fail to deliver good government, as populist politicians are more popular than realists. Especially with a growing number of retired voters.

NASA and its moon mission Artemis II represent everything we Europeans have admired about the US for decades. It’s even included a Canadian to show this isn’t just a display of crude nationalism. Congratulations, NASA!

@MatthewWielicki 1 square mile is 640 acres. No nuclear plant is that small. South Texas Nuclear Project uses 8000 acres, Hanford uses 1000 acres and poisoned 589 square miles, Commanche uses 3000 acres, Palo Verde Nuclear uses 4,000 acres. Solar uses your rooftop.

@BBCJustinR Thanks for the piece on TV news at 10 about renewables. Please be more careful with units in future. You were refering to NESO energy figures in Terra Watt hours, not power in TW.

1. This should be a scandal. In 2023 @ofgem had the opportunity to introduce competition into electricity transmission. All they had to do was say yes, and instead they shrugged, didn’t even have the courtesy to say no.

@ClemCowton There are so many simple opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce costs. From fixing operational metering to better analysis and optimisation around constraints. Given authority and a year I could save £1B.

Seeing high-follower accounts declaring that renewables were the cause of power outages in Spain & Portugal. That is certainly one possible cause, of many possible causes. But, it is by no means the most likely, despite it fitting your narrative. Let's wait and find out?

@JavierBlas @opinion Great article. It looks like a case of a single point failure taking out what were meant to be well isolated systems intended to provide redundancy.

@RichardJMurphy That fits with the approach to no change in fossil fuel taxation. Judge by actions not words.

In the Office for Budget Responsibility report on the Budget the word 'climate' appears just once, and then as an afterthought. Has Labour forgotten the biggest existential threat that we face?

Oooh - Reeves says fuel duty increase wrong while people worried about cost of living - so she spends £ 3bn to maintain level... a v small increase would have easily paid to maintain bus fare cap...#Budget2024

Oh for FFS fuel duty to remain frozen and the "temporary" 5p cut (most of which went to oil companies) to be extended 🤦 On the same day 50+ people killed by storms fueled by climate change.

@LeeRJdillon Thanks for the update. It is great that it was factual and avoided trying to make overly party political points. I know how difficult it can be for MPs to ensure constituents and country come ahead of party.

@kevpluck The only gravity battery that makes any sense is pumped hydro! But you need the geography to support it.
