Today I learned people don't like hearing this:

@1liax3 2 million is not enough to retire
English

@RyanSAdams Not a miracle things priced pretty fairly at the moment. Everything is heavily speculative still. I understand it can go up heavily but we have got to comfortable to speak in absolutes like calling this a ‘miracle’

@madmambo1 @sassal0x @Atroxaex @Matt_Hougan Well with good you don’t simply own gold and it prints you more gold.
English

@sassal0x @Atroxaex @Matt_Hougan The only thing I dislike about eth is that with eth wanting to be the thing that secures the network and the digital gold. It means the rich get richer simply by owning and staking the token?
English

BTC and ETH as assets are secured by their respective networks - Bitcoiners like to think that the Bitcoin network doesn't matter for BTC, but it most certainly does.
Bitcoin as a network has real centralization with PoW, is not very censorship-resistant, has no finality, has no long-term security budget, no client diversity, no answer to cartelization, can be spawn camp attacked to death and so on.
Ethereum as a network is much more decentralized (actual home validators), extremely censorship-resistant (tested at scale with OFAC sanctions), strong economic finality (tens of billions of dollars worth), no issue with its long-term security budget (has tail issuance), very healthy client diversity (10+ clients), much harder to cartelize (economies of scale aren't as rewarding with PoS as they are with PoW), can't be spawn camp attacked because it has slashing.
The only thing BTC has over ETH is the relative certainty around its monetary policy but this is actually the Bitcoin networks Achilles heel and will lead to its eventual downfall (this is the security budget issue).

in the 1990s, "credit cards at fast food restaurants" were alien tech. never change normal people, living in a perpetual state of anxiety about new things.
Beanie@beaniemaxi
32 years ago, Burger King started accepting credit cards. It rightfully frightened alot of people. Sort of like using crypto for payments today.

@KentonC137 Thanks but sorry does that mean I’m free to pull out the 10,000 rune whenever I want? Just give 3 days?
English

@Andrew_dja Takes up to 3 days to churn the node out of the network. Every now and then it could take longer if the churning process is halted for the whole network for a security reason. Usually when that happens, the halt only lasts for a couple weeks.
English

@shockrocket1 @HippocampusWeb3 @THORChain Thanks so basically you’re stuck in. Until the node decides to stop
English

@Andrew_dja @HippocampusWeb3 @THORChain Nodes don't like being out of the active set because they don't earn $$ then. They prefer bond providers that are long term minded and won't want to unbond after a few days/weeks.
Once a node is out of the active set, then you'd have 3 days to unbond (correct your rewards)
English

With the recent price changes, the @THORChain network is getting closer to being ready to accept new liquidity again. Additionally, the latest update allowing 4 new nodes per churn is accelerating progress even further.
Some projects and new chain launches remain limited by the current network’s capacity to onboard more liquidity.
If you want to help, now is the time to put your RUNE to work. Talk with a node operator and bond your RUNE to start earning yield! The more RUNE bonded, the more liquidity can be added to the network.
