I’ve requested board hearings for 2 crucial issues in @Multco. One- the county’s response to mental health- was delayed for a YEAR even as we face a worsening mental health crisis. Two- a massive new homeless services bureaucracy- would have flown under the radar had I not requested a public work session. Last week I supported Board action to allocate unspent supportive housing services funding. One of the main reasons we have underspent funds in the first place is because non-profit providers have been unable to hire and retain the staff they need to provide services. Read more⬇️

@People4Portland Not a single nonprofit that's all right with the status quo. Instead, nonprofits have championed humane, cost-effective solutions that move people right into housing with services.

The non-profit industrial complex tells us to "meet them where they're at" in the name of "compassion". There is nothing compassionate about watching someone die in real time. Our current status quo isn't compassionate, it's cruel. apnews.com/article/portla…
