@MariahHudsonpdx @SMeieran @multco The reality is that good work is happening. But w/out data, we are left to make up a story. And that's largely suspicious. What role should Metro play here in creating more transparency?

@SMeieran @multco It astounds me that JOHS has over 100 employees + $250m budget and can't reliably tell us how many beds are occupied every night. We need the city and county to demand change in the IGA. Way to advocate Commissioner!

I’ve requested board hearings for 2 crucial issues in @Multco. One- the county’s response to mental health- was delayed for a YEAR even as we face a worsening mental health crisis. Two- a massive new homeless services bureaucracy- would have flown under the radar had I not requested a public work session. Despite efforts to delay, avoid & obscure, both these items WILL BE HEARD TOMORROW. Tune in, show up, & use your voice to support transparency and democracy! multnomah.granicus.com/ViewPublisher.…

Hey, @Transamerica, maybe you should allow your customers to opt-in to your sharing our data with "affiliates" rather than require a cumbersome process to opt-out. Paying for insurance, not spam

Last week I supported Board action to allocate unspent supportive housing services funding. One of the main reasons we have underspent funds in the first place is because non-profit providers have been unable to hire and retain the staff they need to provide services. Read more⬇️

Portland has chosen Urban Alchemy, a California-based nonprofit, to manage its first city-run mass tent encampment, Mayor Ted Wheeler announced Thursday morning. The first tent site will be built in the city’s Central Eastside. oregonlive.com/portland/2023/…

@People4Portland Not a single nonprofit that's all right with the status quo. Instead, nonprofits have championed humane, cost-effective solutions that move people right into housing with services.

The non-profit industrial complex tells us to "meet them where they're at" in the name of "compassion". There is nothing compassionate about watching someone die in real time. Our current status quo isn't compassionate, it's cruel. apnews.com/article/portla…

Commissioner @SMeieran—I, & many, ask that MultCo not allocate funds to @tedwheeler & @DanRyanPDX for their plan to round up people w/o an address & intern them into camps. It’s detrimental to those it claims to aid, while not being an actual solution.
Candace Avalos@candaceforpdx

🚨 ACTION ALERT 🧵 This Thursday the Mult Co Commissioners will take a critical vote to allocate $millions towards proven solutions to our homelessness crisis. Portland City Council is trying to urge them to instead divert these funds into their inhumane camps. WE MUST ACT ⬇️

Voters want action BUT they also expect and deserve coordination between jurisdictions & service providers. "I would really like for folks to engage experts." portlandmercury.com/Housing/2022/1…
