There's confusion about what the abortion vote was. What's been approved is women performing their own abortions at any point up to birth. Their campaign doesn't stop here. They want "full decriminalisation" - abortions for any reason, at any gestation, performed by doctors.

I'm a former mental health nurse I witnessed the trauma they carried. Even those who sought an abortion later on have to seek help because they couldn't get over the choice they had made.

This law was straight out of the Handmaid's Tale, from a time when women had no say over anything. The knee jerk reaction suggests all foetuses are viable. They are not.

@AngelaTopping @sharrond62 There's no nuance, just manufactured outrage by people who haven't bothered to find out exactly what the legislation change means. Nobody is aborting babies up to birth, they'd be given up for adoption at that point if they're healthy.

Couldn’t sleep last night! I fear it’s a grave mistake allowing a woman to abort a full term healthy baby for any reason & to not reinstate face to face consultations for abortion pills only safe to use up to ten weeks. Telemedicine is too easily lied to & undoubtedly will be. It’s already estimated 1 in 17 home abortions end up in A&E. There will be many more. It’s abandoning safeguarding for ease & any civilised rights a viable, innocent baby has. We have one of the longest abortion periods at 24 weeks in Europe & support for clinical abortion to term if any medical risk to the mother. I hope any future government will repeal this extension. And that we don’t lose women taking pills not designed to be used after ten weeks or paramedics called to homes unsure what to do with a live miscarried baby whose mother chose to terminate it? It’s a sad day
