@Gda1238 I never knew that Pentecost Roses is the other name for peonies! Thank you for sharing. They’re lovely.

@Watchman_motto I have been calling it millennial grey for a few years now too. I never cared for it. As a real estate agent what I see is the older character homes renovated in a traditional style are the homes that sell the fastest and for the highest price. True beauty is timeless.

A good pantry is an absolute must. It’s the one thing I wish I had made bigger in my house. Ours is similar to both of these. (Maybe not so fastidious with all the matching containers etc). No matter, you need more food storage than you think you need.

@Aethelleas @LayoffAI As a result they have the buying power to purchase the best single-family homes in desirable towns. I've been seeing this for the past 7 years in northern NJ. One town in particular had in each of the past 5 years over 65% home buyers that were foreign born-Chinese & Indian.

This gap is wholly due to H1Bs who became citizens, and who needlessly & incompetently took that 150k median job from Americans. Every H1B is an American permanently booted out of the Middle Class to live off 1/2 what they could. And for those under even 40, it means an Indian citizen bidded up & displaced them from a home - and then deprived more working class families of homes when he got visas for his whole family & and they all got preferential loans & programs denied to Americans. And for those under 35, that Indians deprived them of starting a family - something Musk damned well knows as he concern trolls about population decline in the West. There are 1 million H1Bs just from India in line for American Citizenship. There are 4 million more ex-H1Bs from India who already got citizenship. And both of those groups are overwhelmingly only hiring other Indians; less competent & honest than Americans - and not only not needed but overwhelmingly damaging to the economy and the society.

@Watchman_motto Exactly! This is what I tell my seller clients who live in 100 year old homes with original details. The woodwork, built-ins, and windows are the decor. No need to stage with cheap Target and Wayfair plastic furniture and wall pictures.

This room is fantastic except for the light fixture. But that’s easily fixed. Notice, you don’t need to “decorate” this room much. The architecture does all the decorating for you. Furniture and rug, couple pictures on the mantle and it’s done

@luke_holtham @financedystop This is correct. I’m a real estate agent here in NJ and I know exactly what each house will sell for as do my fellow agents. They are purposely pricing houses lower. I do not like that strategy and choose not to use it.

@financedystop Why does everyone assume the asking prices were appropriate? This is just what greedy agents do in hot markets. It's better for them to sell three homes at the low end of their value range, than one at the high end in the same amount of time and the same amount of work.

@texasrunnerDFW This is my market as a real estate agent. It’s also due to significant immigration from H1 B visas, all Asian. Chinese nationals buying single family homes cash, for millions.

Since the pandemic, rapid home price growth has increasingly been politically based—it’s about money moving towards (or away from) certain political environments We saw it during the pandemic with a rush to the sunbelt for lower taxes and more lenient COVID policies And today we see it in New Jersey, in reaction to NY politics

@naomirwolf Exact same thing has happened to me. In NJ I couldn't find a health plan cheaper than $800 a month. I'm going to go with a health sharing plan. I'll have to pay the penalty Obamacare tax but it's still cheaper.

I didn’t have health insurance and paid out of pocket and spent less than $1000 on doctors’ visits last year. I did not mind skipping the endless testing. Now I am applying for medical insurance and it’s $1000 A MONTH with a 5k deductible! What?? Last time I had insurance it was half this price. And there really aren’t’choices’. How does anyone afford to function in this system?

🚨BREAKING🚨 New Jersey just ranked #1 in the nation for the HIGHEST home price growth. Home prices surged nearly 6% in February, compared to just 0.5% nationally. New Jersey isn’t just beating the market, it is DOMINATING it. You won’t be able to afford a home in NJ.

@CathMaria1977 @TaylorRMarshall I chose Saint Monica too. Her holiness throughout her life and never giving up praying for her son's conversion impressed me. My second choice was Saint Cecilia because of her beauty as a noblewoman and choosing martyrdom.

My confirmation name is “John” after Saint John the Apostle. I chose him because he had his head on Christ’s heart at the Last Supper, and I cared for the Virgin Mary. Who is your confirmation Saint and why did you choose him or her?

@BlackLabelAdvsr The money pit is the initial purchase price of the home. Every home needs maintenance. If the purchase price is lower, then the repairs are manageable. Sadly most homes are overpriced today in many areas of our country.

Owning a home is a money pit. If someone tells you otherwise, they’re lying to you. I’ve lost track of how much I’ve invested in my yard, AC system, air filters, plumbing repairs, water filtration, bidet filters, mold repair, painting, fence replacement, etc. Be warned!

@Catholicizm1 I don't know if I believe all the individual posts I see about becoming Catholic or posing at Catholic shrines. I think it's part "enemy trying to fool us" and part "to get clicks" or grift. I believe there are genuine conversions but I don't believe all are.

@TheRealEstateG6 As a former tax accountant, I don't understand how people don't see this. Do they not look at their tax returns and see what their actual annual liability is each year? Do they not look at their pay stubs and see how much is being withheld?

@bowtiedmeathead Cooking or baking and open a coffee shop. Or an interior design degree. Sell furnishings at an Ethan Allen type store, learn about window treatments and how to measure - very few know how to do this. I know a few higher end design shops here in northern NJ that do very well.

My wife and I were talking the other day about potential career options for my 15 yrs old daughter who really struggles in school and is likely not college bound/material. For guys it’s easy… Don’t want to go to college, pick a trade or figure something else out such as a police officer, firefighter etc. It’s not as easy for girls. I think she would do well in sales since she is attractive, has the personality and is extremely social (spends hours everyday talking on the phone to all her friends). For parents with daughters who aren’t on the college path…what are some real, high-income career options you’ve seen work?

Under Biden, government regulations added approximately $90,000 to the average final price of a new single-family home. Overregulation pushes homeownership out of reach for too many Americans. @POTUS’ Executive Order will streamline building processes, cut costs, and deliver affordable housing.
