#Sextrafficking is serial rape for profit. In Houston, at least 50 women & girls were being sexually assaulted over & over again by the countless men who bought them. How many more are out there? Read comments to learn some facts. msn.com/en-us/news/cri…

It is often a gang or cartel where the abusers are from the same country as the victims - and they use a token system and lookouts to keep the victims from running away. They also move victims often to keep the police from finding them. It's highly organized crime.

1. Most #sextrafficking victims in the U.S. are U.S. citizens - often teen & young adults who are vulnerable b/c of a life in foster care, child abuse, prior sex abuse, homelessness. SEX TRAFFICKING IS THE ICING ON AN ALREADY HORRIBLE CAKE OF PRIOR VICTIMIZATIONS.

While #sextrafficking survivors I know who were sold on #Backpage were arrested and sentenced to decades in prison, the CEO Mike Lacey got 5 years. Justice is about accountability. This case was never abt justice for survivors but it was a decade+ in the making. @NickKristof

Anyone who’s been trafficked @AnkaChristine works with victims, she was a great help to me during a time I was having PTSD triggers (not from trafficking, she’s just a nice person). She helped get BackPage taken down & is trying to decriminalize prostitution bc most of victims & they should be going after the ‘Johns’.
