Kurt Miceli, MD, the Chief Medical Officer @donoharm, has written for Genspect about their urgent work with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to develop 𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝗺𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗱𝗶𝗮𝗴𝗻𝗼𝘀𝗶𝘀 𝗰𝗼𝗱𝗲𝘀—𝗜𝗖𝗗-𝟭𝟬 𝗰𝗼𝗱𝗲𝘀—𝗿𝗲𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗱𝗲𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻. Diagnosis codes are the backbone of clinical documentation. They allow clinicians to articulate the medical conditions impacting an individual, utilizing a clear structure and nomenclature. There is no question that new codes are urgently needed. Detransitioners in particular remain invisible to the current medical coding framework. genspect.org/now-is-the-tim… #gendercodes #donoharm #detransition #transition

Question I had is what are they actually measuring in these studies? We now know a lot more from detransition research about a range of motivations/antecedents to trans id that includes same sex attraction and gender role non conformity, and we know about the confound of same sex attraction in MRI studies of the brain that have also sought to link asynchronous gender identity to biological differences Plus they complain about Cass Review selecting one study while excluding others and that’s a flag that methodology issues plague many of these studies and that unlike Cass this study was not actually a systematic review (which they admit)

New systematic review of twin studies examines the origins of gender identity The authors found evidence in the 16 reviewed studies for both genetic and environmental contributions to gender identity. But the heritability rates were all over the map, with no clear magnitude, sex differences, or consistent effects related to prenatal hormones. "Given the variability in results and methodology between studies, the true magnitude of these contributions remains unclear. No consistent differences in contributions were identified between assigned males and assigned females. While there is also recent evidence that prenatal hormone exposure may contribute to gender identity, the overall evidence from the literature is inconsistent. Twin studies indicate both genetic and environmental contributions to gender diversity. These results are important to inform ongoing public debate in this area and highlight the complex interplay of both genetics and environment."

🆕 Our March webinar with DR LISA ANLLO (@AnlloLisa) will draw attention to unmet needs relating to iatrogenic harm to sexual function for individuals who have a history of transgender identity and have received medical interventions that they later regret.

@LisaSelinDavis Very helpful to see the overlap as well as differences between stakeholders visually, did you create that Venn diagram or if not can you provide the source?

Actually, maybe what this shows is that these views are aligned with traditional feminist and liberal values—it just so happens this is the one place they overlap with conservatives.

What this shows is that when liberals were asked if we supported trans rights, we said yes—because we didn't understand what that meant, or the impact those would have on other people. When asked about specific issues that we now understand better, the answer changed.

I’d be interested to know whether the defense team tried to take cover in referencing guidance from professional orgs such as American Psych Association —if so, does this type of defense open the door to naming these orgs as additional defendants? Also would like to know if any these cases involve simultaneously filing complaints to licensing boards

I’ll be interested to know whether the defense team tried to take cover in referencing guidance from professional orgs such as APA which while acknowledging detransitioners still speaks to harm of so-called gate keeping and thereby reinforces idea of psychotherapy as conversion therapy—if so, does this type of defense open the door to naming these orgs as additional defendants? Also would like to know in what way if any these cases involve simultaneously filing complaints to licensing boards

BREAKING: 1st Detransitioner to Take a Medical-Malpractice Lawsuit to Trial Wins $2 Million Judgement Fox Varian sued her Westchester, NY, area psychologist and plastic surgeon for the gender-transition mastectomy she got at 16. I was the only reporter to attend the entire 3-week, historic trial. Subscribe to my Substack to receive an alert about the feature article I have coming out next week in a major publication out about the trial: benryan.substack.com. I cover pediatric gender medicine as a specialty on my Substack. Sorry to just give just a teaser for now about the case! But I wanted to get the word out about the verdict promptly, the slower pace of feature-article publishing notwithstanding. The entire case file was put under seal when the trial started (although I obtained all those documents before they was sealed), and all the transcripts from the trial are also under seal. The riveting trial was sparsely attended and there was only one other reporter at the trial; and he only attended for part of it and, as I observed, took few notes. So my own hundreds of pages of notes from the trial will likely remain the only way for the public to learn about the all finer details of what transpired, possibly ever (or until an appeal, should that happen). In addition to my article coming out in the media outlet soon, I intend to write a lot about what I observed and learned on my Substack over the coming weeks. Stay tuned…

I assume every grad student in psychology is still schooled in Tarasoff, but I’m not confident that this one will be taught in the same manner with today’s political climate Instead we might see clinicians being trained to see it as if it were like abortion rights The APA recently put out a fact sheet minimizing risk of harm while saying that so called gate keeping is harmful and doesn’t clearly endorse psychotherapy as first line of care apa.org/international/…

Dear Coach McDermott, Thank you. Thank you for taking over a franchise that was broken long before you arrived — and refusing to let it stay that way. Thank you for walking into Buffalo when hope felt fragile, when the playoff drought felt permanent, and when being a Bills fan meant bracing for disappointment. You didn’t just win games. You restored pride. You broke the drought before Josh Allen ever became Josh Allen. You taught this team how to work, how to believe, how to carry itself. You built a culture that mattered — one rooted in accountability, humility, and toughness. For the first time in a long time, the Buffalo Bills felt stable. They felt respected. They felt like a real organization again. You were a leader of men. Players trusted you. Fans trusted you. Families trusted you with something that mattered deeply to them. You felt like more than a coach — you felt like family. Like the uncle who shows up every year, does things the right way, and gives everything he has even when it’s not easy. We know football is a results business. We know the standard changes when you find a quarterback like Josh Allen. But that doesn’t erase what you gave, or how hard this is to accept. It doesn’t erase the 98 wins, the playoff nights, the belief, or the sense that for once… the Bills were safe in good hands. This ending hurts because it mattered. Because you mattered. No matter what comes next — for you or for this team — know this: Buffalo won’t forget what you did here. You helped heal something. You gave us years we’ll never take for granted. Thank you for the stability. Thank you for the dignity. Thank you for the culture. Once a Bill, always a Bill. With gratitude and respect, #BillsMafia
