@philip_ciwf @Daisybelll @guardian Is that because cows are too tall to graze under all the solar panels, unlike sheep?

Huge rise in factory-style dairy farming of ‘battery cows’ in UK as costs rise @guardian
“Investigation finds number of dairy farms where cows cannot go outside has more than doubled since 2015”
“We managed to ban battery eggs; why not battery cows? It is shameful that we subject cows … to these conditions of cruelty & confinement.”

Swedish Ambassador Martin Åberg visited the sites destroyed in the russian attack:
“My name is Martin Åberg, and I am the Ambassador of Sweden to Ukraine. Today is May 25, the day after a massive russian missile attack. A devastating strike on Kyiv.
What you see behind me is one of the sites visited by all invited ambassadors so they could witness the consequences with their own eyes. Six russian missiles struck a shopping center, a market, and the entrance to a metro station. It is simply staggering.”

We've been saying the UK has a big dirty money problem. Now we know how BIG!
New research from our friends @TheFinanceLab has exposed that around £325 billion from financial crime, money laundering, corruption, illegal trade & tax dodging flows through the UK every year.

.@faizashaheen: "Firstly on Blair, he should be held accountable for what he did with the Iraq War, when he lied to all of us, I just find it shameful that he can come out & expect to give us advice on anything"
Spot on.

Minister of Defense of Israel Israel Katz threatens her with 'imprisonment for many years" & calls her actions "a grave blood libel against heroic IDF fighters."
Rape victim suffered ruptured intestine, severe injury to anus, lungs & broken ribs.

Well that would be because to get PIP you have to be seriously sick or disabled, you morons.
"The review reportedly shows that those aged 16 to 24 who are in receipt of PIP, the main disability benefit, become less likely to be in work as they get older."

Whenever UN workers and assets in Ukraine are attacked, the United Nations never seems to know who did it. Hint: they are still on the Security Council, but shouldn’t be.
Cindy McCain@WFPChief
Absolutely unacceptable. This is what's left of our @WFP warehouse after a missile strike in Dnipro, Ukraine—and the remaining food stocks for 130K people on the frontlines of war and hunger. These deliberate attacks MUST end. Aid workers and humanitarian assets are #NotATarget.

The natural EU response to Russia’s threat to bomb their embassies in Kyiv systematically would be to expel all Russian diplomats in Europe and end diplomatic relations with Russia, declaring it a terror state.
Dr. Michael Schaaf@SchaafAmBerg
Nur den russischen Botschafter einzubestellen, reicht als Maßnahme natürlich nicht aus. Putin lacht darüber. Was ist notwendig? - Alle 27 EU-Staaten beenden die diplomatischen Beziehungen mit Russland, und - weisen alle Diplomaten aus. - Lieferung Taurus. tagesschau.de/ausland/ukrain…

Tony Blair is the living embodiment of what happens when political office becomes a down payment on future plunder. Ejected in 2007 by his own MPs as a massive liability, he bequeathed Britain a wild casino economy primed for the 2008 crash. And when the British economy crashed and burned, Mr Blair kept quiet while honing his skills at securing power by other means.
His first job, after his ejection from 10 Downing Street, was as the West’s Middle East envoy, with a supposed emphasis on Gaza. It took six painful years for Mr Blair’s tenure to prove a failure so profound it amounted to active complicity in Israel’s ethnic cleansing, in Palestinian erasure, and in paving the ground for the ongoing genocide.
Soon after, the Chilcot Inquiry demolished Blair’s Iraq lies, exposing him as a liar, a chancer and a war criminal responsible for countless corpses of Iraqis, but also of British soldiers.
Then came Blair’s real innovation: the financialisation of the ex-premiership itself. The Tony Blair Institute, fuelled by £130 million from Oracle's Larry Ellison—coincidentally, the largest individual donor to the Friends of the IDF—became a shadow state, brokering governance contracts for autocrats and companies like Palantir that weaponise AI to produce mega-death abroad and full-on surveillance of Western populations.
Now, in May 2026, this corporate fixer issues a 5700 word tantrum demanding that Labour embrace Trump even more than Starmer already has, denounce what is left of Labour’s betrayed Green New Deal, and trash the remnants of workers' rights. This is not the wisdom of an aging statesman. It is the frantic squirming of a man fearing his grip on oligarchic power might soon wane and whose entire post-10 Downing Street existence depends on preventing the many from ever reclaiming what the few have plundered.

Google's own artificial intelligence team just staged one of the most stunning internal revolts in tech history — and it's aimed squarely at a deal the company signed with the Pentagon.
Workers at Google DeepMind, the company's elite AI research division based in the UK, voted 98% in favor of forming a union. That makes them the first workforce at a frontier AI lab anywhere in the world to organize collectively — a watershed moment for an industry that has long resisted it.
The trigger: a recently signed agreement allowing the U.S. Department of Defense to use Google's Gemini AI models inside classified military networks for "any lawful purpose." Critics inside and outside the company warn the loosely worded deal could open the door to autonomous weapons systems and expanded government surveillance with few enforceable limits.
The newly organized workers aren't just asking for better pay. They want Google to formally commit to never building weapons or AI designed to harm people, to bar surveillance tools that could violate human rights, to strengthen whistleblower protections, and to give employees the right to refuse work that conflicts with their ethical beliefs.
For Google, the stakes are enormous. The company spent eight years publicly pledging not to weaponize its AI — pledges critics say this Pentagon contract quietly overrides. Supporters counter that the U.S. military must have access to the most advanced AI to keep pace with global rivals. Now Google's own engineers are forcing the question into the open: where is the line between national security and the technology built to serve it?
