Teaching Physics without a Physics degree. Love to get nerdy about Teaching &Science. All opinions stolen from others and badly mis-quoted

@edmunds_dr The fact that it’s got answers is making me giggle (and breathe a sigh of relief). Thank you!
English

@PhysicsHawk Thank you for your reply! How would you quantify the difference? I’ve never really attempted to measure the energy produced by either beyond a general ‘wouldn’t touch it with my hand’ which applies to both
English

@Anna_D12 I would say it is combusion if it produces a large amount of energy quickly. I wouldn't call burning Mg combustion because it produces heat and light more slowly, but I could be mistaken.
English

@MBDscience I’ve still got some items from 2005 in regular circulation- so the correct answer is at least that long
English

@hannahtuffnell I also ‘enjoyed’ Poor. Top fiction for me would be one of the Leigh Bardugo- many Six of Crows if I had to pick one

@tstarkey1212 @tombennett71 True! OCR lag behind AQA in so many quals so this is an attempt to boost market share by positioning as ‘disruptors’ or some such
English

@tombennett71 It's not activism, it's an attempt to sway the market for the company's benefit. It's a sales pitch.
English

Bizarre. This is pretty thin activism disguised as research: a self-selecting online survey isn't representative of a profession, nor does it guarantee an informed or cohesive opinion.
Plus, there is a *great deal* of climate change in the curriculum already. Why do we need more? And crucially, what would you take out? Why AI? And don't we already teach digital skills? This is like reading something from 2004.

80% of teachers in England want more relevant content like digital skills in the curriculum, our recent consultation of 2000+ teachers and students found. These important views will inform our upcoming review into 11-16 education in England. Read more: ow.ly/iWBP50SF82E

@BradleyKBusch @MrMetacognition @FunkyPedagogy I have links to some of your work and bits off @Inner_Drive all ready to share in this and other stuff I’ve planned. Thank you!
English

@Anna_D12 @MrMetacognition @FunkyPedagogy I’ve written a bunch of blogs but haven’t spoken extensively on a pod about it. Hope the other two can help 👍
English

@FunkyPedagogy @MrMetacognition @BradleyKBusch I will take a look, thank you so much for such generous sharing! It looks like it will go perfectly in my ‘learn more here’ section on Sharepoint 👍🏻

@missgeog92 Can you do pen pouches with elastic straps to go round planners? 🙏🏻
English

@FastMaths123 @JohnBaldLangLit And so blooming hard to do in a class of 30!
English

@JohnBaldLangLit Thank you for that - “If we do not match teaching closely to children's learning needs, they do not learn.”
It’s so blooming obvious - it’s so blooming simple ….
English

@teacherhead @MrMetacognition How would you address the issue of QA? I know that a brief drop in is nonsense as QA but the feeling is that it can form a part of evidence for instituting ‘support’ procedures
English

@Anna_D12 @MrMetacognition It can be frustrating. Needs a real mindset shift. I find it changes quickly once they start to see themselves as behind the times! Out of touch .. Which they are!
English

The Persistent Blight of ‘Max Three Observations A Year’
Only just got around to reading this, but as ever @teacherhead hits the nail on the head.
Infrequent and high stakes observations are unhelpful for those being observed and those doing the observing.
Limited helpful information can be deduced, and feedback is often clunky, unhelpful and lacking any future support.
Rather, a culture of open doors, support, small gradual improvements and the removal of judgement is the way to go.
It's beyond me that not all schools are doing this yet.
English

@Mr_AlmondED @BradleyKBusch @DTWillingham That is really true. I have a tablet with stylus and ‘paper feel’ screen protector that I quite enjoy using the One Note. Still has the issue of online distractions though .
English

@Anna_D12 @BradleyKBusch @DTWillingham With phones getting so good at scanning handwriting now, this could be a viable option to many.
English

An important study for all schools that have gone tech heavy.
Typed notes = ⬆️ more notes
Hand written notes = ⬆️ more learning
