If we’ve been at war with Iran for 47 years, why didn’t Trump attack in 2017 or 2018 or 2019 or 2020 or 2025? Genuine, not rhetorical question. What was the trigger in 2026?

@SenJohnCurtis I don’t agree with you, Sen. Curtis. It was a bad decision to start this w/o any plan & stopping right now, pulling back, giving more effort to negotiations, will save lives. The discussion isn’t did he have a legal right? The issue to decide-was it a good decision. It was not.

@SenJohnCurtis @RepBurgessOwens So focusing on the job at had, a sen. from OK -a mixed martial arts fighter, (yes the one who tried to mix it up with teamster pres. O’Brien ) is tapped to lead DHS. Do you really think he has the ability to ratchet down the violence? & is the former plumber at all qualified?

Burgess Owens has served Utah with passion and conviction. I’m grateful for his friendship and the support he has shown me. I’ll miss serving with him in Congress, but knowing Burgess, retirement just means the next chapter of making a difference. Thank you, @RepBurgessOwens!

So the new guy tapped to run DHS is a former plumber/mixed martial arts fighter. (& the only senator with the distinction of attempting to start a physical altercation with another senator)

@DHSgov I have watched the video several times in slow motion, for several seconds before, & as the officer is drawing his weapon, aims & begins, firing. From what I have seen, no, she did not drive into the officer, & at any point, the 2 officers clearly could have backed away/stop lying

Today, in an act of domestic terrorism, an anti-ICE rioter weaponized her vehicle against law enforcement. Our officer relied on his training and saved his own life, as well as the lives of his fellow officers. Sanctuary politicians have created an environment that encourages rampant assaults on law enforcement. @POTUS Trump and @Sec_Noem will always have the backs of law enforcement.

This is exactly right. I’m grateful to @POTUS for taking decisive action to confront narco-terrorism and hold bad actors accountable, including in Venezuela. In Utah, we created the Fentanyl Task Force to bring together law enforcement, public health, and prevention efforts to disrupt supply, save lives, and help people get clean and stay clean. We’ll keep fighting fentanyl on every front.
JD Vance@JDVance

You see a lot claims that Venezuela has nothing to do with drugs because most of the fentanyl comes from elsewhere. I want to address this: First off, fentanyl isn't the only drug in the world and there is still fentanyl coming from Venezuela (or at least there was). Second, cocaine, which is the main drug trafficked out of Venezuela, is a profit center for all of the Latin America cartels. If you cut out the money from cocaine (or even reduce it) you substantially weaken the cartels overall. Also, cocaine is bad too! Third, yes, a lot of fentanyl is coming out of Mexico. That continues to be a focus of our policy in Mexico and is a reason why President Trump shut the border on day one. Fourth, I see a lot of criticism about oil. About 20 years ago, Venezuela expropriated American oil property and until recently used that stolen property to get rich and fund their narcoterrorist activities. I understand the anxiety over the use of military force, but are we just supposed to allow a communist to steal our stuff in our hemisphere and do nothing? Great powers don't act like that. The United States, thanks to President Trump's leadership, is a great power again. Everyone should take note.

@Gerashchenko_en According to Anonymous, Maduro had already agreed a deal with the US to go. What happened was war theatre, for domestic US audiences, to divert attention from the release of evidence of Trump's crimes.

According to open sources, Venezuela used to have a very powerful air defense system. A lot of its elements were Russian, and there are reports that Putin sent Maduro some additional systems in recent months. - Over 20 Su-30; - 2 S-300 and 2 Buk systems, and missiles for them; - About a dozen Tor-M1 systems. Venezuela also had several F-16s; radiolocation systems, including Chinese ones; artillery, including Swedish ones. Then, Venezuela was also in possession of several hundred MANPADS - they are very mobile, don't need radars and they cannot be destroyed all at once with an aviation strike, which would have made them perfect for the job of responding to the US strikes. However, looking at the footage of the US combat helicopters in Venezuela's airspace and their ability to perform a super-quick operation (according to sources, the whole operation lasted up to 30 minutes), Venezuela's air defense was either disabled by the US or Venezuelan military had no means/desire to use it. It is quite possible that Venezuela's military leadership had no desire to fight and die for Maduro, so they made a conscious decision to allow the US to carry out the operation without any resistance on their part.
Anton Gerashchenko@Gerashchenko_en

Maduro declares a state of emergency and calls for mobilization, according to Venezuela’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Russia’s war has opened Pandora’s box. Conflicts are now waged through military means. A struggle for control over Venezuelan oil is underway. Will strikes on Venezuela affect Russia’s shadow fleet? Undoubtedly. "Venezuelan oil" plays a major role for the so-called shadow fleet. At one point, Rosneft (Sechin) invested large sums in Venezuela’s oil sector. In fact, the shadow transfer of part of the oil industry to the Russians was the price paid for preserving Maduro’s regime. Today, Russians mix Russian oil with Venezuelan oil, which is also sold through the shadow fleet, and market it as oil from third countries. If Trump succeeds in a rapid change of the Maduro regime, it will not stop but will complicate the operations of Russia’s shadow fleet. Everyone also remembers, after the defeats in Syria and Iran, that Russia does not really help its "partners." The only thing it can offer is asylum for those fleeing.

@GovCox @POTUS The current US regime acts w/ impunity regarding the rule of law & has been conducting a nonstop war on the Courts. This action in Venezuela violates international law, & has shut down the focus on #EpsteinFiles What are the limits of your loyalty? Trump is in the files.

@Suzierizzo1 According to the latest census, Bureau records - The official poverty measure rate was 10.6 %, and about 35.9 million people in the U.S. lived below the poverty threshold in 2024. It is not a moral failure to be poor. It is a moral failure to not help others if we can
