Today is my birthday. It’s the first I’ve ever spent on my own, and the the third without my beautiful boy being here. I’m ok. Or as ok as I think I could be. I suppose. It feels kind of appropriate to have a day of enforced quiet and reflection. I have read (lots) and tuned in to @sianwilliams100 for her calm mindfulness programme on R3 this morning. It was a soothing tonic to accompany my birthday croissant and coffee. My boys are back in Somerset. Countdown to a-levels. I haven’t seen Charlie for almost two weeks; but I’m home on Wednesday (as Dave tag teams up here in London), and can’t wait to see him. It’s hard to ever feel grateful these days. Life has served us such a cruel hand. But I am grateful to (& for) Dave and to Charlie. For my friends who have supported throughout (and to Michelle and Annabel who came all the way up on Saturday for a speedy 36 hours early birthday with me) and Abi today, for the gorgeous flowers I’ve just received. I’ve popped a pic in below. I have my doggies with me. Another pic below!! They might be elderly, and a little bit needy (!) but they have gotten me through some of the worst days by just being them, and needing me, despite my tears and grief. So the fight resumes tomorrow. And I am resolute and determined to see it through to the very bitter end. Happy Bank Holiday everyone. 💛💚

I just watched Starmer proudly announcing the UK will join a £78 billion loan to Ukraine. WTF!!?? We're broke, highest ever levels of debt, highest ever levels of tax, economy a total mess. Where is that money coming from when we simply haven't got it!? Something is very wrong!

HE PROTECTED 54,000 DOCTORS. THE @NHS PROTECTED ITSELF. In January 2014, Dr Chris Day (@drcmday) was working overnight in the intensive care unit at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Woolwich. Two locum doctors didn't show up. The unit was running at double the patient load the national guidelines allow. He raised the alarm. He reported unsafe staffing. He linked the situation to two patient deaths. That's what the NHS calls a whistleblower. What followed was eight years of litigation, a legal battle all the way to the Court of Appeal, and over £700,000 of public money spent by Health Education England (@NHSE_WTE) and Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust (@LG_NHS) trying to stop his case being heard at all. Here's the really elegant bit. HEE's opening legal argument wasn't that they'd done nothing wrong. It was that whistleblowing law simply didn't apply to them, because they didn't directly employ junior doctors. They were just the organisation that controlled the career progression of every single one of England's 54,000 junior doctors. Totally different thing. Dr Day fought that argument to the Court of Appeal and won. The law was clarified. All 54,000 junior doctors below consultant grade in England now have statutory whistleblowing protection. One man, crowdfunding against three QCs, changed employment law for an entire profession. No formal apology from the NHS. No reinstatement. No path back to a consultant career. He has worked as a locum A&E doctor ever since, doing overnight shifts while his opponents collected salaries, pensions, and the occasional glowing tribute to NHS transparency. During the 2022 tribunal hearing, the communications director at Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust deleted up to 90,000 emails. The director whose entire NHS email archive was also deleted during live litigation happened to be the instructing legal client in the case. The tribunal described the conduct as extraordinary. Nobody was prosecuted. The trust issued a partial apology about a press release. The system did exactly what it always does. It absorbed the cost, deflected accountability, and waited for the man it destroyed to run out of money or energy. He hasn't. “Here we go again, Mr Speaker” This would be an apt response to a petulant child, or maybe a friend during a disagreement, @bphillipsonMP But to respond in such a manner to the concerns of women, frightened for the safety of themselves and others is truly despicable. Doesn’t she realise that @RupertLowe10 is voicing the concerns of British people up and down the country? Does she think he is trying to score political points? What does she think Rupert’s motivation for raising this issue is? As a husband and father of three girls (and a boy) I find Phillipson and the rest of @UKLabour utterly disgusting. Shame on you. Shame on all of you. Do people think that at this point, anything this woman says can be taken seriously?

Women and children are being raped on our streets EVERY SINGLE DAY by third world invaders Rupert Lowe brings the issue up and gets HECKLED by the parliament Every single one of these MP's should be in prison for what they have done They've allowed this to happen!
Rupert Lowe MP@RupertLowe10

Women all over Britain feel increasingly uncomfortable in their own town centres with imported foreign men intimidating them - I raised this issue to Starmer. There is one party that will put the safety of British women ahead of these unchecked foreign men. Restore Britain.

Following Phillipson disgracefully dismissing the concerns of millions of British women in Parliament yesterday, I have formally invited the minister to visit an area of my constituency where so many women feel unsafe. With no taxpayer funded security, let's see how she feels.

@MrsEmmaWebber all the things you say you are in this post today exhausted etc. pale in comparison to the devastating grief you and your family need to live with ....breath by breath, heart beat by heart beat. I too have had a devastating sudden loss of my sister, she was 21! I know how hard it is to breathe, to survive in the circumstances you find yourself in. However, the devastating lack of accountability, truth, respect, understanding from all these people organisations etc in the enquiry and beyond is a second blow you should not be dealing with. We are all behind you @MrsEmmaWebber and @drsanjoykumar and @PhilCoates9

Day 4 of Week 10. The only person making decisions, directing the ‘show’ and ensuring the outcome was Valdo Calocane. Ably backed by his support team of ‘least resistance staff’ at @NHSNotts to ensure he never faced stigma, never had to be challenged, do anything he didn’t want to do - or, god forbid, be held to account. I am: exhausted, drained, astonished, sickened, horrified and disgusted. #nottinghaminquiry 💚💛

Rupert Lowe is one of the very few people in positions of power who has actually spoken out and pushed for accountability on the rape gangs scandal. To claim he’s “no supporter of women” is simply not true. If anything, calling that out looks less like concern for victims and more like political point scoring. Labour doesn’t get to rewrite the record here, people can see who’s been willing to speak up, and who hasn’t.

Fifteen months on, I’m so proud that the Children’s Wellbeing and Schools Act is now law. In those months, we’ve seen why these changes are needed now more than ever – a short thread below on why that’s the case. 🧵

You are completely wrong, @bphillipsonMP You have never worked with @RupertLowe10, Ms Phillipson. I am sure that @MariaBowtell, @orlaminihane, and @officialsammyuk will back me up when I say that Mr Lowe is easy to work with and respects and likes women. Labour, most of the time, does not know what a woman is and doesn't even think rape gangs exist. @W4Restore
