Very bad and sad news for art, artists and collectors. I was never a big fan of Nifty Gateway but I recognize the central and essential role this platform played in the space. Really sad.

@FunghiGallery I am always interested in art. But I don’t have the resources to collect. I actually never had but still made an effort to collect out of my love for art and the desire to support some artists I could afford. But I ran out of money quickly. I still love to see them though.

Sometimes I come here and I see the art. From the distance. I get amazed. But I also get frustrated about my lack of ability to collect. And because, unfortunately, this market is still moved by a few very influential collectors. Making me think I’ll probably never collect again.

I come here and see some artists evolving and doing entirely different things. Even learning and trying new techniques and themes for their art. And some artists still doing pretty much the same, with some variation of course. Interesting to see.

@kuntal_singhvi I think it is a huge problem especially for artists, because every day the market is thinner (very few buyers). And the “value” of their art is pretty much determined by a few very influential folks.

@AnonNFTVault Isn't it only a problem if you're trying to buy something with the main intention of flipping it later on for a higher price? I'm an artist, but I have collected works from others which I will probably never be 'able' to sell as they don't have a secondary market as of yet

@danyelgphoto I’m just not in a financial position to do that and I don’t think I will (I can only hope). I’m actually struggling. While I don’t regret collecting, today I’d be much better off if I didn’t to be honest. Learned a few lessons.

@kuntal_singhvi Market concentration is always an issue, from both sides. If a customer has few options or is forced to a powerful company because there is no competition, that is not great. Same from the other side: if the value of an artist depends on few influential people, not great either.

Yes, indeed. It is sad. Unfortunately I had to stop collecting primarily for financial reasons. Since then I've had a lot of time reflecting about the space. I still love the art and most of the artists, which are the reason the space exists. But so many things I don't like.
