Okay maybe I'm a dumbass, but my impression of the point of Dune, was that fate is a tricky lady Both you as the reader, and each character, are never quite sure if Paul is the messiah or not. They all teeter between hope and fear of that possibility. I don't love the movies because they totally missed the spiritual perplexity of it all. Is if fate, or will? Are those things really so different after all? The movies completely miss this mystique

the dune movies were doomed from the start to be good and not great due to the casting of chalamet as paul. he does not have the gravitas for a child-god and is much better suited for kind of silly coming of age movies
