@ThomasCookUK dreadful customer service. Spent over 40 hours waiting and then chatting on live chat and going round in circles. Holiday booked with Thomas Cook to Turkey but my Christian name inputted incorrectly on airline tickets. No help or resolution

Pulling out of NATO would be a disaster for decades to come. Our alliances have already been damaged, and trust with our closest partners has been weakened. We need our allies to deter Russia, China, and Iran, and to address threats worldwide. America alone is a weaker America.

I've always been told Trump never touches a drop of alcohol. So presumably he's been celebrating Easter Sunday (the holiest of days in the Christian calendar) by having a toke on his finest crack pipe. What a fucking embarrassment...

@edmond_sokol @SaltyGoat17 @RobbieRescue I am tired of the US and their huge ego thinking they are better than everyone. Another war where they will leave a complete and utter mess but tell everyone how big they are. 9/11 the only time article 5 was invoked and our brave military lost their lives to support you.SHAMEFUL

Total NATO defense spending (2025): United States: $980,000,000,000 Europe + Canada: $512,337,000,000 We pay almost twice as much as ALL the other countries COMBINED!! And who protects who? Anyone else tired of being the world's ATM?

@SaltyGoat17 And you make nett gains from NATO as your big military corporates get the majority of the money. Typical of Americans always trying to spin the narrative one way. However, because of the money you make no administration is going to leave NATO!!

@HansMahncke How can you write so much drivel? Initially the US took a neutral stance and tried mediation because it had so many investments in Argentina.

It is almost impressive how consistently this “professor” showcases his ignorance, apparently without any awareness of how ridiculous he looks. The United States absolutely helped the United Kingdom win the Falklands War, so much so that the victory would not have been possible without the United States’ support. After initially trying to assist with negotiations, which failed, the United States provided critical military support, including advanced Sidewinder and Stinger missiles, intelligence, satellite imagery, and perhaps most importantly, access to the United States base on Ascension Island.

@TomRoseIndy I don’t think Trump did only ask to use our bases, he has been using them. He still continues to insult and belittle us. I see Iran as a threat but I am sick and tired of big macho loud Americans only doing half a job

If Europe cannot see Iran as a direct threat, then why should Americans be expected to treat it as one on Europe’s behalf? Europe is quick to sound tough, and slow to act. They know what Iran is and the threat it poses, but lack the guts, not to mention the capability to defend themselves. They know Iran is controlled by a fanatical Islamist regime with a half-century record of apocalyptic terrorism, that murders tens of thousands of its own people, openly calls for the destruction of Israel and “death to America,” and continues building ballistic missiles to shield a nuclear program. And let’s be clear—@POTUS never asked Europe to fight with us. All @DonaldTrump wanted was permission to use the airfields and bases we paid for, manned, and maintained to defend Europe. Not troops. Not escalation. Just access. Even that proved too much. Alliances don’t hold when one side sees refuses to help the other. G-d Bless the men and women who keep #America safe and free

What "political influence" when they deny us use of our own bases? And are they going to buy Russian weapons? Chinese? We just blew those up from Caracas to Tehran. Europe feels entitled to our support. We no longer think it gets to. And since we just added $500B to our own defense budget, Boeing doesn't need your purchases.

Kellogg: NATO may need to be redrawn with countries willing to fight, like Japan, Australia, Germany, Poland, and Ukraine, which has proven to be a good ally. Under Article 13, the US could leave NATO with one year’s notice if the alliance no longer works. 1/

Europe is on a path to destroying itself. Unchecked immigration of millions of immigrants that burden their welfare states, bring violence and terrorism to their shores, and take over local governance, one city at a time. Anti-capitalist policies that make it difficult for businesses to adapt their workforces to a rapidly changing competitive environment now accelerating due to AI. A business environment and tax regime that is antithetical to startups. The absence of any progress or innovation in AI and limited access to the compute necessary to compete. Energy dependence due to the green movement at a moment when energy demands are rapidly increasing. And now, the abandonment of the U.S. when we have asked for limited assistance — base access and flyover rights — in the midst of our efforts to eliminate Iran’s nuclear and ballistic threat which is already within striking range of Europe, after we have invested nearly $200 billion in helping Ukraine. NATO is about to be toast. Europe’s defense burden is about to rise massively while their economies continue to fall further and further behind. In short, Europe needs to wake up before it is too late, and it may very well be too late.
Bill Ackman@BillAckman

NATO’s unwillingness to join the Iran war or help reopen the Strait of Hormuz has proven to be the last straw for a president who has become fed up with the alliance. Washington now views its European allies as unreliable defence partners. @GBNEWS/ @MartinDaubney

@Anthony260263 @riachi_jean No, quite obviously not, but I don’t see the point of sending our Marines into a kill-box to try to open a Strait that was already open when Trump started his war of choice. Let’s not double down on stupidity.

What is striking today is Europe’s blindness. While the United States confronts a regime that is not driven by ordinary strategic calculations, Europe hesitates, equivocates, and hides behind a façade of prudence. This is not a Cold War–style ideological rivalry. We are dealing with a regime whose worldview is deeply shaped by a theological and eschatological dimension, where political decisions are intertwined with a belief in a quasi-divine mission. Treating such an actor as if it were a purely rational state is a fundamental mistake. History shows that inaction in the face of regimes driven by absolute conviction does not prevent conflict, it only postpones it and makes it worse. Refusing to support the United States today is choosing short-term comfort over long-term security.
Department of State@StateDept

SECRETARY RUBIO: NATO wasn’t just about defending Europe, but allowing us to have military bases in Europe for our national security. If we’ve reached a point where the NATO alliance means that we can’t use those bases to defend our interests, then it’s a one-way street.

President Trump's speech translated: - The US is winning (just shy of we've officially won) - NATO countries that are dependent on the Strait of Hormuz can either buy American energy or clear the strait themselves. - Trump did NOT mention ground troops as some press outlets reported he would (thank goodness). - Trump did not mention Kurdish forces as others predicted. - The war is not over (but he came very close to spiking the football). - 32 days in, TBD on how many more, but probably 2-3 more weeks. - Trump is now signaling publicly that the original objectives have been sufficiently achieved to his liking (no nuclear program, no ballistic missile program etc.) and he's ready to begin the EXIT. - President Trump is reserving the right to define when he's happy with the results and end Operation Epic Fury. It's time to nation build here at home. Let's declare victory and LEAVE.

Europe is doing nothing to secure their oil transport through the Strait. Prices go up worldwide and Americans pay for it… We’re not even reliant on that oil. So why are we in NATO if our “allies” expect us to handle everything?
