but i also went for the pane approach in my app (Libghostty terminals, browser panes , gui agent threads) keybinds like tmux for moving around(alt z to focus a pane) etc

Aren't tabs are just another version of side bars with less information?
What all the tools (cmux, composer, opencode) are getting wrong is that you want visibility of everything at the same time, to prove this to myself I built cmdcmd, which allows you to see all open windows at the same time... and completely controllable from the keyboard.
The reason why people love tmux is because it makes your window composable, that's difficult on the desktop.
We need more composable tools, apps need to do less.
